Feeding the Birds

From where we sit in our sunroom we can see the various bird feeders as well as a suet feeder right up against the window. It's so entertaining especially when a dozen or more tiny Bush Tits all try to fit onto the hanging suet.  Some birds don't share. Juncos are especially particular about being the only one at a feeder.  Not so with the Bush Tits.

Recently we got out of the truck which was parked by a large old tree.  Right there, in front of me, was a Tree Creeper.  Tree Creepers are not rare but often very hard to spot. I count myself lucky if I see one a year, so you know I was quite happy to see this one.

Our weather has changed from rain to mild with unseasonably warm temperatures.
It was 10C  (50F) this morning and the rest of the week looks like it will be as mild.
DH tells me he sees the green tips of the daffs coming up. I must go out and see for myself.

Last but not least here's the first puzzle of 2026. It's one from the thrift store and it was half price as well as being a nice picture. All those quilts should be fun!!

Thanks for visiting

  3. We have two bunnies that hop around that most of us feed. They got let out and never wanted back inside their homes. Now a bunch of us feed them. Sometimes I'll feed the birds too and I also feed the critters in the forest with scraps and stuff when I have it.

  4. Beautiful photos and illustrations! I love birds! I live in a 6th floor apartment and we are not allow to feed any wildlife. There are pigeons that live on the roofs of a shopping center, and people do feed them and give them water there. People who have homes can have bird feeders in their backyard. Birds are such a joy, |I really love them!
I also love jigsaw puzzles. The one you are doing looks so nice!

  5. We maintain four bird feeders all year round and then we add two for the hummingbirds in the summer. One of our regular feeders and one of the hummingbird feeders have cameras. I've never put out suet but that may change soon. The puzzle looks like a lot of fun. You know I love the quilts!!

  6. We have been enjoying the birds at the feeder too. Bush tits always come in flocks. Chickadees, both Black Capped and Chestnut Backed, come to grab a seed and fly to the tree to eat it. Not very energy efficient, but so cute. We often have a Nuthatch.

  7. We really enjoy watching the birds too. And I like your puzzle. I was thinking about starting one this week but then I remembered that we are friends over Saturday night for dinner. Our kitchen table is the only place we have to work so we will wait until next week.

  8. I put out two suet feeders last week. It's as cold as it's going to get here, so I hope the birds find them soon. I didn't have any last year so I suppose it might take a little time for the news to get published in the bird community.

  10. That's a lovely puzzle! I'm fond of 500 piece puzzles as the 1000 piece ones take so long and I get tired of having them around. The weather was so very mild - it feels like spring! In my daughter's garden, a bit more sheltered than mine, she saw a daffodil blooming!

  11. Our bird feeders are very popular, mostly sparrows and bluetits. It's the first year we've had so many visitors to them

  12. We enjoy feeding & watching our birds here. I did see a bunny early one morning, and my "deer friends" aka Rosebud and her babies, they are joy to watch, and we welcome them here.

  13. You are so sweet . . . I have so many flower seeds that I leave out and don't pull until spring that the birds and squirrels have a feast around here. Love that puzzle.
