Finding Room for a Table

When I saw this picture on Pinterest I had to think back to a similar experience when I was about 4 or 5. A cantankerous turkey gobbler took after me and I ran screaming blue murder trying to get away from him. Fortunately my Dad rescued me but I remember how scared I was.

Our cold mostly clear weather continues. On our walk we just saw all the regulars at the lake.

I decided to rearrange things in the sunroom. After Christmas we had to find room for a table that my DH built a number of years ago and which was being used by M for a desk. Now he has a proper desk and since we were not going to part with the table we had to put it in the sunroom.( Where I've already run into the corner no doubt this will give me quite a bruise.) It's very close to the door which we don't use in winter. We'll see if it has to be moved in spring.

. I have bread dough in the breadmaker now.   With such small projects my day gets filled.

Thank you for all the lovely comments on my new doll's name. Last night before I turned off the lamp I said Good Night, Mary Ellen and grinned as I thought about adding Good night Jim-Bob, Good Night John-Boy......

  1. Such a pretty table. Could you pad the corners?

  2. I didn't ever get chased by a rooster or turkey, but geese can be very threatening, and hens peck when you try to gather their eggs.

  3. Your reference to The Waltons gave me a chuckle. Your husband built a beautiful table. Your plants look happy there.

  4. That chicken illustration is very powerful. I grew up in Montreal, a large city, and have lived here all my 69 years, so I haven't had a chicken chase after me. Interesting my adulthood, though, I had a Canada 🇨🇦 goose 🪿 chase after me once, so I totally get the fear.
I smiled at your reminder of one of my favourite TV shows, The Waltons.

  6. I like that nice table. I also made bread in my machine today. I am the same in that many small things fill each day.

  9. Nice table! I was chased by Banty Roosters as a child and I am sure I may still be afraid of them!

  10. That's a beautiful table. I hope you get used to it or find a place where it won't be in the way of your shins.

  11. This is a fine table. Handmade: valualble! Big geese or turkeys can really be dangerous, and for a liller child they are huge!

  12. Never been chased by a rooster, I feel rather cheated. Lovely table. We find room in our lives for what we love.

  13. That table that your husband made is beautiful! Hope you didn't get too big of a bruise when you bumped into it. When I was 4 or 5, we had a rooster that loved to flog people. Boy, was I happy when he ended up in the stew pot! :) It was one that my parents had given me for Easter that year...he'd been dyed purple.

  14. My older brother had banny (Bantams) chickens when I was so young I hadn't started school. Those little roosters would chase me and make an awful noise. Momma always told me not to go near them, but they look so cute I couldn't resist. Cute maybe, but meaner than all get out. lol Remember to swing wide when making that corner . . !!

  15. That table is beautiful! Can you move it slightly more to the right away from the door? It may help you not run into it! That's totally something I would do for sure! I love the waltons and your doll is beautiful 🥰🥰🥰🥰

  16. I haven't been chased by a rooster but have been by chickens. They can be mean too!
The table is really nice and I can see why you want to keep it. I love the color of the wood. Stay warm and cozy. It's still cold here and supposed to get much colder over the next few days.
    Blessings,

  19. It is a wonderful table, vintage quality and style already. It looks like Mission style -- did he intentionally design it so?

  20. I was not chased by a rooster as a child, but as an adult I had a rooster that terrified me, until we found another home for him!
I like that table. Glad you are keeping it
