We have a very old Queen Elizabeth Rose that started out in front, along the driveway but because she got terrible Blackspot every year we moved her to the Wild Area in the very back. She has been ignored there for some 15 years or more and has grown very tall. Every year she produces some lovely blooms which DH has to access with a short step ladder. Here is yesterday's bouquet and there are more buds that will bloom in a week or so.
We got more rain overnight but it has more or less stopped raining now. Hopefully we;ll see the sun this afternoon. I hope you're having a good day.
Thanks for coming by.

The roses are beautiful. And I really like the picture at the end of the cottage. I could live there comfortably.
ReplyDeleteThat's a beautiful rose! We had steady rain all day yesterday and some this morning, but now it's bright and sunny!
ReplyDeleteWe have one too; I think it may may have been planted when these houses were built in around 1955. It's incredibly resilient!
ReplyDeleteWe had a Queen Elizabeth one at my parents. Your roses are beautiful
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty rose, but known for succumbing to blackspot.
ReplyDeleteSometimes benign neglect really is the best gardening strategy! It’s wild that she cleared up her blackspot just by being moved to the back and left alone. A 15-year-old rose bush is quite the legacy, even if you have to climb a ladder to get to it now. Hope the sun finally peeks out for you this afternoon!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful roses. Love. the cottage and can picture myself living there.
ReplyDeleteWe're getting our share of rain, as well. Enjoying it. Love the rose! Beautiful...

How beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThose are some gorgeous roses. Do they smell as great as they look? We had rain overnight but now it's sunny and humid.
ReplyDeleteBlessings and hugs,
Betsy
Looks like she is loving her new home! Do they smell amazing?
ReplyDeleteWe have that rose. We keep it pruned, but she does like to stand up tall. Very queenly.
ReplyDeleteWe are on Whidbey island for a few days. We have been putting up with the on again, off again rain because then we don't have to do yard work. Looks like today we have to get busy.
Even though you have ignored her for a long time, she keeps giving you beautiful roses.
ReplyDeleteWhat gorgeous roses. Earth has a way of nurturing them all on its own. They must smell absolutely amazing.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! And I like the little house too.
ReplyDeleteLovely rose. I'm glad she is thriving on semi neglect. I have a Princess Alexandra which suffered from blackspot, the poor thing looked terrible. Then we moved and I temporarily left her in a pot at my friends beachfront house. She was exposed to wind and salt and loved it.
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful rose. It seems to be happy in its wild place.
ReplyDeleteShe is a very pretty rose.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful rose.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
That is one tough rose bush. The color is so pretty.
