Injured

I have a reputation for being accident prone. That is a polite way of saying that I'm a klutz. I run into things or trip on whatever there is to trip on. But honestly, today WAS NOT MY FAULT.  My DH had been kind enough to peel the potatoes for supper but somehow a piece of potato peel fell on the floor  and you know who slipped on it and went crashing into the dining room. I flailed my arms in a vain attempt not to fall but fall I did.  I landed rather heavily on the back of a chair then onto the floor. My ribs hurt and I have a bruised knee and two fingernails that are turning dark ( now how did THAT happen? Maybe it was the flailing bit.)   It hurts to laugh or to take a deep breath so I know I bruised my ribs. Tonight I'll take a painkiller and hopefully sleep.  Tomorrow I will sit on the porch and read and not do anything useful.

Thanks for listening to my tale of woe.

  2. Sure hope you're okay!
And I think sitting on the porch (soaking up some wonderful sunshine!) sounds like the perfect way to spend the day. Take care

  4. I am so sorry that you had such a hard fall. Falling is scary. I mean you know you're going down and nothing you can do about it. I have fallen several times, mostly outside, tripping over the hose or a tree root. Take it easy today. Glad you didn't break anything but sore ribs are bad enough.

  6. Oh no!!! Glad it wasn't any worse, and hope those ribs recover quickly. That was quite a picture you painted, and I could see it all in my minds eye! Did no-one tell you that it is BANANA peels that you are supposed to slip on;-) Take care of yourself and don't overdo it with gardening in the summer days that are coming up.

    1. Yes, but in the moment one seems to think that somehow flailing will help. ( I am very thankful not to have broken anything).
