This and That
Our weather has changed to much milder and as I sit here I hear the rain hitting the skylight. We weren't brave enough to go walking and risk getting soaked in spite of umbrellas. We did walk yesterday morning and the lake had a thick layer of mist hanging over it. Of course I hadn't taken my camera but Sheila, who walked there a couple of hours later, had taken pictures with her phone.
The mist gives the lake a mysterious look.
What is the best thing to do on a dreary Winter's day? Bake muffins, of course. I thought pear muffins sounded good so I used an ordinary Blueberry muffin recipe and just substituted diced
( canned) pears. Here they are hot out of the oven.
Yesterday we put the Christmas trees away and all the decorations. Packed them up for ten-and-a-half months. It seemed like more of an effort this year. I must be getting old.
Thanks for visiting today. Please leave a comment so I know you came by.

There was a mysterious look about the lake, but those muffins didn't have a bit of mystery about them. They look yummy!
ReplyDeleteLooks like the tree in the picture took some heavy ice damage. The muffins look delicious. I tried some with overripe cranberries and they were pretty good. BTW, I finally got my blog going, my first post isn't much. Phil/Minnesota
ReplyDeleteGood for you!!
DeleteLooks like that tree had some damage from your storm! Your pear muffins sound good:)
ReplyDeleteI do love the beautiful pictures of the lake. The muffins look delicious. I've simply got to stop eating. Seems like that's all I've done since this cold weather rolled in. I've made a raisin nut pie and chocolate oatmeal cookies since we (I) finished up the chocolate peanut clusters.
ReplyDeleteWe didn't walk outside today either, but we took the light rail to SoDo to go antiquing. Not many miles but lots of time on our feet.
ReplyDeleteI didn't bake muffins, but I did make a big pot of beef stew yesterday, that we will be eating for several days.
Thanks for inspiring me to bake today which is my dreary day only because my holidays are now over and it's back to work tomorrow. I didn't bake muffins though (yours look amazing)....I opted for cookies. Looking forward to reading more posts in 2018!

ReplyDeleteI like the lake pictures with the mist appearing as they hold some type of mystery. Your muffins look delicious! I often change the type of fruit in mine.
ReplyDeleteThat first tree looks like it got a lot of damage from the ice? The muffins look luscious! Glad the packing up of Christmas chore is finished for this year. :) Stay dry!
ReplyDeleteI love the look of the fog over the water. I'm not sure what it is that draws me to it, but there is something...maybe it is as you say, it looks so mysterious.
ReplyDeleteYour pear muffins sound SO good. I will have to give that a try with some of my canned pears. I have some fresh ones that I think I may try drying in the dehydrator. I know I will be able to do another five trays of apple chips, too.
Have a wonderful week, my friend. xx
