I love these pictures from 2022, the year Kitty had her kittens. The whole thing was such a surprise: first her bedraggled and starved appearance then discovering that she was pregnant. In the end it was a wonderful experience for our whole family. In due course good homes were found for all 5 kittens and Kitty continues to live with us.
It has been a busy week in the kitchen. Sweet potatoes always seem to appear in the grocery store around Thanksgiving and this year is no exception. I bought a number of them, cut them in half and roasted them. When they were done and cool I froze them for winter meals. I still have 4 which I'll probably do this weekend.
I made a Clafoutis in ramekins. I took a picture but my computer has stashed it somewhere where I can't find it so here is a picture of a Clafoutis from the internet.
I went to the thrift store to take two big boxes of unneeded stuff and after dropping them off I went in to look for a certain size of dish I needed for an appetizer I'm making for Thanksgiving at Kate's. I didn't find the right dish but I did find a very lovely bamboo wind chime. We love the gentle sound that the wooden "pipes" make and as soon as a 6' son appears to hang it outside we can start enjoying it.
Just goes to prove that you never know what you'll find at the thrift store.
( There was a picture of me holding it up but that has disappeared so here's one from the internet.)
The day began with wind and rain but now it's mid-morning and the rain has stopped. Housework must get done. I hope to have a few hours to finally finish my book. I've become such a slow reader that a book like the 500 page tome by Rosamunde Pilcher has taken me so long!!).
Thanks for coming by.

I like sweet potatoes also baked with a bit of butter and brown sugar...yum! That kitty was sure cute among the pumpkins!
ReplyDeleteHappy thanksgiving. The food sounds delicious. Kittens are sweet but I bet all grown up now.

It's cloudy here and a little drizzly but not really rainy. We've had our usual Friday breakfast out and done our grocery shopping. The rest of the day will be light stuff, like taking Styrofoam packing to a recycling place.
ReplyDeleteI am a lot better today but still tire out easily. Autumn is settling in and it's OK.
Your baking always looks and sounds good.
Beautiful pictures! The kittens are adorable!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet photograph of the kittens 😸
ReplyDeleteOh those pictures are so cute!! I love sweet potatoes and eat them often.
ReplyDeleteLove the windchimes - I bet they sound gentler than aluminum ones. Mine are clang-y! Look in your downloads folder - I bet you find those jpegs. (:
ReplyDeleteYes, autumn is for baking! I would like a set of those bamboo wind chimes.
ReplyDeleteLove me some sweet potatoes. We have a local market that does a great job of carrying good ones. Do you ever pressure cook them and use the flesh for baking brownies? Soooo gooooood.
ReplyDeleteExcellent on the donates!
Those kittens are so cute! I'm glad they all went to good homes.
ReplyDeleteThat's a good tip about freezing sweet potatoes. I bought a big bag of Canadian sweet potatoes (from Ontario) and am wondering what to do with the rest of them.
Happy Thanksgiving, GM.
Clafoutis sounds good. For a second I thought you got a new little kitty. aww Glad your old one is still around. Enjoy the weekend....I love the sound of wind chimes.
ReplyDeleteWhat a good and satisfying day! I bought some Asian sweet potatoes yesterday and am looking forward to cooking them soon.
ReplyDeleteLove your sigh about baking in the fall . . . Once the weather gets chilly comfort food is a must and bread baking in the oven is one of my favorites, because not only is it so good but it makes the house smell amazing. Your clafoutis looks so good. I've heard of it but it looks like a cross between a Dutch baby and a cheese cake. I'm going to look for a recipe. 🥰 Very inspiring post.
ReplyDeleteWhat an elegant way to serve clafoutis. Your kitty photo is adorable and I am happy you found that treasure wind chime. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, Virginia
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteHow sweet the kittens are!
