Thrifty Finds

A quick trip to the thrift store this morning yielded, as usual, a few treasures. I like this flowery cup and saucer. It's quite different from any I have so far. I'd already chosen my mug for the day but this will be my choice tomorrow.

I already had a copy of The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady but this one is destined to be an altered book some time in the future. I absolutely love the sketches ( watercolours?) that fill the pages.

Now this little set of salt and pepper shakers and what I suppose is a sugar dish is neither full sized nor does it seem to be a child's toy but I like it and it was two dollars. Couldn't resist.

I can always use another trivet. I like the farm scene on this one.

I've had this pretty bowl for ages and since lemons were 4 for a dollar I decided to create a little bright spot on the kitchen counter. The lemons will last for a long time, especially if I remember to put them on the porch for night.

That is what I'm doing this rather dark and cloudy Saturday. Snow is possible tonight....the grands are hopeful there'll be enough for a snowman.

  1. Now you have me curious....I hope you will post pictures of your "altered" Edith Holden book once you've completed whatever you have planned. Can't wait as I love seeing things reborn into a new purpose (which probably explains my stash of things I can not part with :)

    1. I'm not sure how well I could photograph the pages of one of the books I've altered in the past. I'll try though. If it works I'll post about it.

  2. I love the Diary of an Edwardian Lady. Not sure what happened to mine. What happens to lemons when you put them on the porch? Is it to keep them cooler? Happy New Year. Here in eastern Manitoba we will be -34c with a -44 windchill. Won't be much better tomorrow.

    1. Putting the lemons on the porch ( or in the fridge) for night just lengthens their lives! Of course it rarely freezes on my porch so out your way that trick would not work. Glad to see you here BTW

  3. Since I don't go to thrift stores or yard sales, I'm not able to say much, in a comment here. ,-) Yes, as hard as it is to believe, I did not get handed out the thrift sales gene. -giggggles- I'm always trying to get rid of "stuff" and not bring more into my home. Just me, I know.

Here we have ice on top of some snow, with rain coming. And warm temp. And then way down, down, down in temps, for the week. It is a totally crazy weather loop, we are in.

Happy January, however it comes at us!
