Snowy New Year's Day

It's a rare day when I don't go out of the house at all  but that is exactly what this day is. Unless you count sticking my head out the front door to take pictures of the yard and the street. We had quite a dump of snow and our street is one of the last to be cleared so we are having an enforced stay-at-home kind of day.

Here my DH is clearing away some snow in the back yard. He filled the bird feeder and hung the Hummingbird feeder which we are taking in at night until the weather warms up.
I'm ashamed to admit I haven't even been out to spend time with my bunny. I just sent warm water and some leaves of Romaine with DH when he went out.

One thing I did accomplish this past week was making my new journal using a thick notebook
( which had a bright blue cover).  You know I'm not much at crafts;  all I did was find a nice piece of scrapbook paper and glue it on to the cover, stick some number stickers on and looked for an old necklace that had a leather thong which I will use as my 'bookmark'. Haven't figured out how to attach it yet so I just stuck it into the wire ring. As you can see I'm fairly sure it will take me 4 years to fill this journal.

I would love to know if you journal.

Thanks for coming by today. I hope your year is off to a happy start!

  1. We had snow here too, a rare occurrence. It was so beautiful that it got me out of bed fast, and eventually into my boots to go out with my camera and photograph the beauty.
I have never been successful at journaling. I am trying to start a "Gift of the Day" journal for this year.

  2. I love "snow days"! I tend to bake cookies or muffins. We were predicted to have a 6-8 inch snowfall on Thursday night. What a disappointment when we woke up to just an inch! I do journal but not regularly... it's sort of a stress reliever for me so I tend to journal when something is bothering me or I'm trying to figure something out. I hope you have a great first week of 2017!

    1. Hi Lynn, I've been reading back on your blog as well. I see you mention Gladys Taber, Miss Read and the poetry of Mary Oliver. It's great to find another person who enjoys some of the same things as I.

  8. What a lovely journal you've made. So do you glue in pieces of pretty paper on the pages as you go through the book or does it already have those inserts in it? I have a "calendar book" in which I record pertinent things of my day but I also have separate journals that I write in when the spirit moves me - a gardening journal, a prayer journal, a Christmas journal, and a grandma journal. I don't envy my kids for the job ahead of them once I'm gone :)

  11. I used to keep a diary as a child, but don't any more. I guess my blog could be sort of a journal. My mother kept journals. After her death my sister and I glanced through them, but in the end we burned them. Some of it was not pleasant reading.
