Mostly about Teacups

Mary at Hilltop Post asked if I knew just how many teacups I have and do I have a favourite.  Last year M thought he'd go through my place and count my teacups. I forget what his final count was but it was over 200. As for a favourite?  That's like asking a mother which child is her fav. Well, maybe not quite that bad but I did wander around trying to decide and these are the ones I chose.

The first 2 are part of my Japanese collection ( of which there are 22).



Doesn't this one with the short little 'feet' look a bit like a fat mother hen?


This teacup is by Royal Stafford and has a unique raised  painted pattern.


By now I was wanting to choose more and more as my favourites so I just took another couple of pictures. They are all special in some way or another.


 Here are the ones I washed yesterday up on that high shelf over the doorway into the sunroom.
Sorry for the awful picture but you get the idea.


My goal for today was to clean the livingroom windows and wash the lace valances which I got done this morning. Now all that remains to be done is to hang the valances and put back the furniture
( after I mop the floor back there).  Again I apologize for the bad picture but the sun shining brightly outside made it impossible to get a decent picture.


Now I must go finish what I began and go out and enjoy the lovely sunshine.
I hope the sun is shining where you are too!

    What a beautiful collection of teacups! I think the ones you chose are lovely and yes, the one does resemble a fat hen! It sounds like you are getting lots accomplished while we are all inside. Wishing you a lovely day to enjoy the sunshine, (it's raining here today, but we need it so no complaints.)

    it is so beautiful, your teacup collection! I admit I love your English ones, the flower ones in the bowl of the teacup.... so beautiful!!! I love how we all love certain ones the most! that's what makes it so much fun, the different things to love in the same loved collection! :)

    It occurs to me that you could use a string or two of lights to show off your collection. Maybe one of the menfolk could fix you up? :-)

    I have been told that I ask too many questions! In this case, I am so glad that I do. I can see how really hard it would be to choose a favorite. What an amazing collection. I love them all, and the sunroom...wow! Makes me want to ask more questions. :~) Thanks for this lovely post!

    I love the high shelf, your teacups look so nice displayed there. I don't have near that many teacups but of the few I have it would be very hard to choose just one favorite.

    It would be hard to pick a favorite! I think my favorite among your favorites would be the one with the gold maple leaves inside! :)

    It all looks so lovely. With your massive collection of teacups and your delicious baking, you should think of opening a tea room!

    I used to keep a collection out on a shelf...sugar and creamers. You have to be really dedicated to washing them several times a yaer! Your collection always looks so nice:)

    Aww - I think it's wonderful that you have something you enjoy so much that you really can't get enough of them! we all have something like that :) I love that you don't collect all boring, samey tea cups, but that they are really fascinating, different, flamboyant even! It would be fun if you had a tea cup museum, and had a few people inside to view them and read about the different sets. Lovely!
