My Day

It's another lovely April  morning. We left the house at 8:30 for our morning walk around the lake.
The Eagles were sitting side by side on their favourite tree. We have seen one sitting on the nest but not very regularly. I wonder if they will succeed in raising a chick this year or not.

The ducks had obviously read the sign and were observing physical distancing.

The goslings in this picture, taken last week....

...have grown a lot.  There are still seven of them. Unlike ducks the geese manage to raise almost 100% of their chicks. Ducks do far worse.  So far we haven't seen any baby ducklings at all.

Besides my walk the only other chore I've decided to do today is to wash another 16 of my tea cups. My  son lifted them down from the high shelf in the dining room last evening. I knew he wouldn't have time before leaving for work this morning  ( yes, he's still working) and the fact that the cups are on the table makes any procrastination unlikely. I imagine I'll ask him this evening to put them back. I no longer stand on chairs ( well, I'm not supposed to anyway).

What are you keeping busy with today?  I hope whatever your day holds that it is a good one.

Thanks for visiting,  G.M.

  1. My goodness but those geese babies certainly did grow a lot in a week! I have been busy making masks. So far I've made 65. I crochet on my sweater here and there.

  2. What a pretty collection of cups and saucers. Very sensible not to stand on chairs!

  3. I am wondering if you have a count on how many teacups you have. Also, if you have one favorite. If I should choose a favorite from all these oh-so-lovely cups, it might be the one with a blue stripe at the very back of the table. At least I would like to take a better look at it. I also like the one with the red stripe inside the cup. My day didn't turn out as planned. Our tv quit working a few days ago, so we have had to get a satellite provider service tech out, and finally, today, had to buy a new tv. Dan and I now have it up and going (without any help)! :~)

  8. Your tea cups are beautiful! How nice that your son got them down for you. We have many Eagles around here too....I hear that they are the reason our loon babies never make it to adulthood. It's amazing that so many of the goslings do make it. We have had snow on and off for the past 3 days....hoping the weather warms up again soon.

  9. No one wants to mess with Mommy and Daddy Goose!
I Zoomed with friends, went to the destist, took my walk to the park, and worked in the yard.

  10. I'm glad to know you're not climbing on chairs! The teacups are beautiful. I used to collect them but a few years ago gave most of mine to a friend who was also a collector. The geese have grown so much! I always love to see the babies following along.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  11. Wonder why more goslings survive than ducks---I wonder if the geese are better parents. Or is it that ducks are on the water morn, or slower on land? Curious minds want to know.

Your teacups are so pretty...I always enjoy seeing them. Walmart carries a step ladder that is very nice for us older folks.

  12. Your tea cups are lovely and I am so glad to hear that you no longer stand on chairs. I had to get on a ladder and empty a top shelf in one of our closets. Steve made me promise to not be climbing ladders without someone near to watch and be there if I got hurt. So; I called our neighbor and she came over and sit out on the porch and watched me through the window, phone in hand in case I fell. Social distancing you know.
Thank you for your prayers. I get strength from knowing that dear friends are praying for me during this time. My heart feels torn in half and my world seems so empty. Thank you for caring.

  13. When the goslings are on the green grass they look much greener themselves, so pretty!

I'm glad you've got people to stand on ladders and chairs for you!!

  14. I've been painting again, thankfully. It feels good. Today I'm painting a doggy birthday card for Adam. I do think ducks have a bad reputation for raising young. Remember the Potter story about Jemima Puddleduck? She was just awful! OH - 3 of your photos are not showing up for me. Just blank boxes. I wonder if others are also seeing them that way, or is it just me?
