I baked Paska which is Ukrainian Easter bread. I make it every year and every year we go through 3 large loaves. My Mom baked hers in the traditional shape which is round and tall ( as in the following pictures from the internet) She iced the top only and she used the colourful trimmettes.
My loaves are sort of elongated. I made 3 fit onto one cookie sheet. We prefer cream cheese icing spread on the flat side of each piece and no trimmettes! Do you have any baking that is special for Easter? I know some make hot cross buns. I haven't tried making those.
Have a happy Easter!!
Another tea pot.

My mother always made hot cross buns. My daughter makes maple frosted "good morning buns". I have not frequently been the host for Easter. I always contribute dessert, this year berry and cherry pie, as requested by my birthday son and granddaughter.
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter to you too!
ReplyDeleteEvery cake against the war.

Graceful Easter to you and to your family, dear Granny Marigold,

Happy Easter to you as well. If I remember correctly Mom used to bake her Paska in tin cans. Do you put raisins in yours? As hubby doesn't enjoy Paska, I have never made it though a dear friend of mine brought me 4 "buns" today, fresh from the oven! Yum!
ReplyDeleteI have the same teapot as the one from your post today.
'The Old Rugged Cross' was my father's favourite hymn, and we sang it at his funeral. Precious memories :) xx
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter! I make paska, too, but make it in buns. I took plates of it to our children and some friends yesterday. We use a regular butter icing with sprinkles on it. My mother and sister were making paska today - I made mine yesterday. So yummy. I like the flat loaves you created.
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter to you, Granny!
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter!
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter!
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter G.M. and Family. Best Wishes from KEV & CHRIS. (Sydney- Australia).
ReplyDeleteThey look delicious. I've not made Paska, but might hunt out a recipe and try it.
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter, even thought this Easter Day is almost over. I've never heard of Paska.
ReplyDeleteI'm not much into sprinkles, so think I would prefer your method with cream cheese icing. The breads look yummy. I am not a baker, so no to making something special for Easter. Having just gotten back into town the day before, it was a quiet relaxing day here. Happy Easter to you as well.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness everything looks so good! GIRL! I would eat every slice of that bread though by myself! LOL! We had a lovely Easter. Hoping you have a wonderful week dear lady. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteYour bread looks great, forget fancy...as long as it tastes good.
ReplyDeleteThey look so good! And very nice.
ReplyDeleteBoth those versions look so yummy. Adam makes hot cross buns each Easter with orange, spices, and raisins in them.
ReplyDeleteIn the last few days I've eaten quite a bit of kulich, which is the Pascha bread that is traditional in our parish. I think it is essentially the same... It looks the same. But I've never baked it myself.
