Happy May Day

Happy May Day. I think we're all hoping for a lovely month after the chilly Spring we've had. It shouldn't be long until the lilacs bloom. I love their wonderful smell.

A light rain was falling when we walked this morning but yesterday was mostly clear and sunny.
As I walked I noticed this bunny peeking out from under a tree.

It came out into the open....

...and was joined by a second rabbit.  I moved closer and they quickly hopped away.

I took a few more pictures on the way back. Then it was time to tend to my own bunny. I never seem to get a good picture of her. I think she's camera shy.

These two Sea Gulls were being very vocal, almost like they were having a conversation.

I think I'm done with the tea pots in the house. The next ones are outside on the ledge over the fence.

Thanks for popping by, GM

  3. Pretty lilacs. I too love their fragrance. Cute bunnies.

The capture of the gulls is sweet...I can hear them chatter in my mind. (There is no such thing as a sea gull...birding lesson 101)

    1. Of course I had to go check this out and of course, you're right. I was amused by what I read on-line.

There's no such thing as a seagull—the correct term is simply “gull," because gulls don't live exclusively near the sea. This is a hill many birders have chosen to die on.

  4. I enjoyed all of your pictures so much. The cute conversational bookend seagulls looked like they were keeping watch over everything.
The beautiful tree full of wonderful pink blooms, looking like springtime itself, but with an old and very gnarled trunk.
Aren't bunnies sweet? The two of them together was even sweeter.

Today we finally had a bunny come to our front yard again. We haven't had any for about 3 years since our neighbor got a new kitty that is a hunter. She still has the hunter kitty, so I kept checking out the front door at various times all day to see if I could catch sight of our new bunny again. Then I saw two great big hawks circling high in the sky and I was even more worried about the bunny. I hope it will be alright.
Our other neighbor has beautiful statuary in her yard and fancy old fashioned cement birdbaths everything painted white. And pretty flower pots with artificial flowers in them because it is difficult for her to plant things now that she has gotten older. The one statue is a lady with a fountain. It's about 4 foot tall. There are two big crows that come every day to her yard at least two times a day sometimes more often. It is so cute to watch those two crows stroll around on her lawn and sometimes one or the other of them will just stand there looking at the lady statue, studying it for the longest time. One day one of them sat on the statue's head, and they often drink out of that fountain, but they mostly stroll around in her yard like it was their own little art park.

How do you manage to keep your pretty teapots from blowing off of the fence ledge? In the past few years, here near St. Louis where I live the wind has become stronger than it ever used to be. There have been times when it has blown big heavy flower pots over if there is a leafy plant in them. If I put a wreath on the door, after it is hung on the door like I always used to, I have to tie it down to the door with thin fishing line to keep the wind from blowing it off onto the ground. I wrap the thin fishing line around the front of the storm door and over the wreath and tie it at the back of the door where the knot in the line doesn't make the line show.

    Happy May!

    1. Hi Susie, Thanks for coming by. I'll have to take a picture in order to explain about the ledge with the outdoor tea pots. You must have much stronger winds than we do.
Your neighbour's yard sounds delightful. Funny about 'her' crows that visit often.
