It's a very rainy Friday and the upcoming forecast is for rain every day at least for the foreseeable future. I believe our winter weather has begun. We had a very short, but lovely, Autumn; now the rain has set in.
I picked up a stack of books at the library. I won't be short of reading material. What with the regular housework and baking I'll keep busy.
On the subject of baking I made Pear muffins which turned out a bit bland so I mixed a bit of lemon juice and icing sugar to make a thin icing for them. It improved them a lot.
I received this lovely arrangement of flowers. I love the colours🧡🤎💛.
My Thanksgiving Cactus seems to be developing buds. I must remember to water it again and mist it as well. Only recently did I read that they appreciate being misted. For years I thought I had a Christmas Cactus then I found out that according to its 'leaves' it is actually a Thanksgiving one.
There's even an Easter one although I don't think they are seen very often.
That's it for today. My latest book is waiting. Thanks for visiting.

Haha, I love "I lost my phone"...so true. Lemon icing makes everything taste better. You received some beautiful flowers. Reading on a rainy day is the best! Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteThe pear muffins look delicious. What a beautiful flower arrangement. Happy reading. The Thanksgiving cactus is very interesting.
ReplyDeleteI forgot to buy flowers at the grocery store today since I'm not used to buyubg them now. Can I find a break in the rain and go out and find enough left in the garden? Your bouquet is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know about the different leaves on indoor cactus.
The muffins look so good. I love ❤️ the rain 🌧 illustration. The flowers 💐 are beautiful.

I never heard about Thanksgiving cactus!
Beautiful bouquet!
Hello again! I finally have my computer back. Your flower bouquet is so beautiful. Lucky you. :-) It looks as though I have a Thanksgiving cactus according to the leaves. That's a surprise to me too.
ReplyDeleteBlessings and hugs,
Betsy
It has certainly been rainy with more to come. What a good idea to add the lemon icing to the muffins. I hope you enjoyed being cozy at home.
ReplyDeleteI just noticed yesterday that my Thanksgiving cactus is getting some blooms.
ReplyDeleteI love coming home with a stack of books from the library. :)
Beautiful colors in the flower arrangement.
That's funny about the phone!!
it's so good to see what is a blessing in one's life! I remember the BC winter rain! lots of hot cups of tea help! those muffins with icing look lovely and the flowers so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLemon flavor makes everything taste better. Hmmm....I think I have a Thanksgiving cactus. No buds yet, though.
ReplyDeleteInteresting about the cactuses! I just noticed this week that I have buds on my two new ones that I bought last year, and according to that picture, those are Thanksgiving cactuses :-) and my old one that I have had forever is a Christmas cactus. I bought the new ones because I wanted different, more pastel colors. Now I have to find more places for everything indoors when we arrive at the season of freezing temps.
ReplyDeleteOf the Christmas one I have given away several that I've propagated. A friend just mentioned to me that she had one once but it died; I came home and discovered that one of my starts I had put in a pretty pot a while back, so I have it all ready to give her. That rarely happens, and sometimes I just put succulent plants out by the street with a FREE sign. They are so easy to propagate, one can acquire too many without noticing.
