Rain, Pumpkin Pie, and a Book

We had a very hard rain last night and it is still raining although not as hard.  We're waiting to see if the rain will stop so we can go walking without getting soaked.

Thanksgiving is over and we celebrated the October birthdays.  A lot of  cake and pie has been consumed and I think it might be time to be a bit more restrained.  I found this on Pinterest and it amused me :)

My pumpkin pie

My sister teases me about my liking of Cool Whip so I'm posting this especially for her.  It's not that I don't like real whipped cream but Cool Whip, I find, is handier.  A tub of it last quite a while in the fridge and is always there to add a little something to a scone ( with lovely strawberry jam) or a small dish of pudding.

I just finished reading this Jenny Colgan book which I enjoyed. It's a lighthearted look at the life of a young woman who falls into a dark place after her beloved grandfather dies.  How she overcomes her depression ( which progresses into agoraphobia) makes for a good read.

I'm off to see if the rain has quit. Have a very pleasant Sunday.

 Thanks for visiting.

  1. A lovely Sunday post ... the meme about the heavy socks did make me chuckle.

It's been a rainy day in my part of the UK and plenty more Autumn leaves have fallen from the trees.

I wish you a good new week ahead.

    All the best Jan

  3. Not a fan of cool whip, I think it tastes like plastic. I do love pumpkin pie though with whipped cream or even RediWhip. We are supposed to get rain this afternoon. The sky is DARK so I'm sure we will be getting some. Hope it stops by morning so I don't get soaked walking. :). Hope. you got to have a dry walk. :)

  10. I don't think I've ever tried Cool Whip. A can of 'squirty cream' is handy to keep in the fridge, but I prefer vanilla ice cream.
I've read a couple of Jenny Colgan books, she's what I call a 'reliable' writer.

  11. The rain stopped mid-morning here yesterday. It was quite a downpour overnight. The pie looks delicious, but I can't abide Cool Whip.
