The Swallows are back!!! Every year I wait and watch for them. This one seems to be scolding the little one ( the picture is from the internet and I'd say the one is a juvenile.)
One mole can create up to 150 feet of tunnels in just one day. Discharged mounded soil and heaved runways are indicators of the mole's presence. A mole's diet consists of earthworms, grubs, and other insects. These insectivores can almost eat their entire body weight on a daily basis.

If you have clear skies tonight watch for the full moon. March's moon has 2 names that I found___Worm Moon and also Sugar Moon. I prefer the second one. It's called sugar because this is the time when Sugar Maples are tapped and sap buckets begin to fill.
It's been a while since I treated myself to some lovely Maple Syrup. Maybe it's time to put it on my grocery list again. What do you like on your pancakes and waffles?
That's it once again. Thanks for visiting!!

Very interesting about the moles
ReplyDeleteYou are a wealth of interesting facts today, GM.
ReplyDeleteI will try to remember to look for the full moon tonight, although the weather forecast is for clouds all day so we shall see.
The pussy willow picture made me smile. How cute!
I've not seen swallows for a long time, but in the summer, they are everywhere at my brother-in-law's barn.
ReplyDeleteI love the little "Pussy" willows.
ReplyDeleteI like frozen (thawed) mixed berries, corn syrup and whipped cream on my waffles. We are not pancake eaters but at a restaurant I would have maple syrup.
Amazing information about moles. We can attest to the fact that they are voracious diggers.
Beautiful images. ❤️ I like pancakes with maple 🍁 😋 syrup.
ReplyDeleteI don't like waffles.
Oh, what a lovely blog — I enjoyed it so much.
ReplyDeleteSo the swallows are back with you already? I haven’t seen or heard them here yet, but I’m expecting them any moment. I always look forward to that first sighting. Most of “our” swallows migrate from Africa to Europe in spring, so they’ve had quite a journey. I can’t wait to hear and see them again.
This morning I cycled past a meadow and noticed so many molehills. I didn’t know that detail you shared — though I do know one mole can create an impressive number of little hills!
My son just told me the moon was beautiful. The supermoon was only visible very early this morning, so I missed it — never mind, next time. The moon looks wonderfully round and bright now too. Maybe I’ll step outside later and take a photo.
And that pussy willow branch — such a sweet picture. Wishing you a lovely rest of the day, and see you in blogland.
Maple syrup is our favorite but lately, I've been enjoying local honey. Now I want breakfast for dinner :)
ReplyDeleteI hadn’t heard of a sugar moon. But those moles. Yuck. They destroyed our yard at the house when we first moved back here to Nebraska. Dennis worked all summer on creating a beautiful yard that had been neglected for a few years. Literally overnight, the moles ruined it. Tunnels and upheaved parts of the yard everywhere front and back. It’s one of the reasons I love living in a condo. No worry about that kind of thing anymore. I thought he was going to have a heart attack when we woke up and saw that mole damage. Blessings,
ReplyDeleteBetsy.
Maple syrup on my pancakes sounds delicious, yummy. I don't think we have moles down here, if we do I've never heard about it. But we do have our share of little critters. I think I prefer a Sugar Moon too. :))
ReplyDeleteWon't be seeing the moon here tonight, its raining.
ReplyDeleteI put maple syrup on my pancakes and waffles. I don't like real maple syrup though, it is too watery. I know I"m crazy!
Love the pussy willow branch - so cute.
Aww ... the pussy willow picture made me smile, it's so cute.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
We have moles and I wish they would go away!
