An Autumn Drive

We decided to take advantage of the sunny day and take a drive out in the country. Lots of yellow and orange leaves to admire.

We stopped here to enjoy the tea and muffins we'd brought.

Each time we drive this road we see this unusual private home built with the crenelated top of a castle. We speculate that the part on the left must be a staircase.  The house appears to be built of concrete.

As we were driving along we saw a ' Welcome' sign  so we drove up to this house and a lovely young woman came to tell us that this was a house built in 1910 ( too bad we couldn't tour it) and the farm was being worked as an organic farm. They wanted people to be aware that they gave ecotours and encouraged people to walk around the many paths past various gardens etc.

This was the farthest we walked. We had no wish to meet a bear!!

Later we came to this rather junky old store. We went inside and had a peek but no one seemed to be around.

That was our pleasant day. I hope you had a pleasant one too.

Thanks for coming by,

  1. That truly is an unusual house...things like that intrigue me. I'm always wondering about the people who live inside. :) How nice that you were able to get out and walk around at the organic farm. I would have stopped where you and your DH stopped also! :) I would have been in my element in that "junky store". This past Saturday my husband and I walked through an antique store and when he came in he said that there was a lot of junk in there. I said that not all of it was junk. He said, "Well, no, there were a couple of things that wasn't junk, but most of it was." I laughed and told him, "You can tell there are no Mansberger genes in your line of heritage." My parental grandmother had a brother who had an antique store. I love old things so I love being around that kind of stuff. :)

  2. What an interesting place! I'd love to nose around that store. The rural landscape there is very beautiful. And that castle-house looks like it's tipping over!! Glad you had a lovely autumn day.

  9. What an interesting day! I would have stopped walking at that bear sign as well. We have them in our area, but I keep my distance, though one was spotted strolling casually through our cornfield behind the barn this summer! Too close for comfort!

  11. Oh I would love to have that stove in the last picture. That looks like such a fun drive through the country. Poppy and I used to do that a lot, but not so much anymore. Any time he is off work, he wants to be sitting in that chair of his. I simply can't believe that I had missed four of your posts...and yours is one of my favorite blogs. I've just read each of them and left you a comment...

    1. I was able to find my last Fall's header and not do anything wrong when I changed to it. I'm such a techno-idiot.
That guy is indeed a grandpa ( as I'm sure you know) he is also my DH!!
