This and That

Have you noticed how often my posts end up being called "this and that"?    I'm often stumped for a title since I rarely have a "theme". I guess my life consists of a lot of this and that.

Tea, flowers, and books are such a big part of my days.  This red rose is still from my DILs rose bed. She'll be back in a few days and then I'll keep my hands off.

I have many tea cups but Old Country Roses remains a big favourite. I have the complete dinner set for 13 settings. Many of them were gifts from my mom who also had this pattern.

I brought in a variety of herbs thinking I would make herb butter. After tasting, I decided I only liked the chive butter.

With all the tomatoes ripening I thought I'd make a small batch of salsa.  Luckily my son had a couple of hot peppers in his fridge so I didn't even have to run to the store.  I added a chopped up peach which I've done before and we like that.    Those are shadows on the tea towel, not dirt.  just sayin'

Another rustic pie.  This time it was apple.

Last of all I want to show you three books I got from the library.  I finished "Fancy Feet"  and I started the Mitch Albom one The First Phone Call from Heaven.  I enjoyed his book Tuesdays with Morrie but that was not fiction. I hope I'll enjoy his fiction too.

Thats it for today.  I hope you have a delightful weekend.

  1. I too have a set of Old Country Roses, inherited from my mother-in-law. Not as big as yours though:) I have one of those jelly jars like yours, with the red checked lid. It was in a bunch jars that a customer brought back to me. I would just recycle it, so if you want it let me know.

    1. Sure, I'd like it for my "collection". Not sure how I'll get it. Would it be a big inconvenience for you to take it to the market on Saturday? We'll be out and about at whatever garage sales there are so let me know.

    2. Not a problem. I won't be there until the 29th. If you think of it, remind me close to that date:)

  2. Hi! I love your Country Rose tea cup and the rose is just beautiful laying beside it. Looks like you have your reading cut out for you for a few days! Yummy looking sweets! Nancy

  3. So sad that your rose picking must come to and end :-( I love the rustic pies... they are so much less "fussy" than regular ones. I've read both The Time Keeper and One More Day and they are both excellent reads.

    1. I'm about halfway through "The First Phone Cal..." and it's slow going....the story not my reading. I find myself skimming quite a bit. Maybe soon it will get more interesting.

  5. It's always interesting to see what you're up to! Hope the book gets more interesting. I've read a couple lately that weren't as interesting as I expected, but I hate to give up! :)

  6. I rather like "this and that" posts. I enjoy the opportunity of seeing what is going on in the daily lives of my blogging friends. Your fresh cut rose and tea cup are so pretty. What a lovely pairing.
The herbs & spice book looks like an interesting one to look through while enjoying a cup of tea. Your salsa and chive butter sound very tasty.
