Remember the Amaryllis that I bought marked down after Christmas? All scrunched and dry in the box it didn't look like much. This one called Red Lion has done so well. The first photo was taken at the beginning of this week and the others were taken today. DH doesn't normally pay too much attention to my plants/flowers, but he has remarked several times on this one. It helps that his favourite colour in flowers is red!
I'm sharing these pics today especially for Ellabie who has any number of Amaryllis and is my go-to for advice on them.
Thanks for visiting today.

It looks like you have a good window for amaryllis. They can get so tall and fall over without the right light. But the blooms are so beautiful! We have one that has two buds on two foot tall stalks. It should bloom before too much longer.
ReplyDeleteWow! It's beautiful! I'll bet you smile every time you look at it!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! You must have a very green thumb!
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting those pics for me...Wow, I am amazed at the size of the Red Lion - not at all like mine which seemed to be a dwarf variety in comparison. My Minerva has opened its second shoot of buds now. I just love them! I so hope you will have success in keeping them till next season so we can compare notes again! I am still waiting to see if any of my Papillon amaryllis seeds will germinate, two months down, one more month to wait to see IF any will germinate. (Three months is a long time for an impatient gardener like me to wait!).Is that an ornamental pepper plant that I see on your window sill? Are they edible and do you ever use them in your cooking?
ReplyDeleteEllabie
Yes, that is a little pepper plant and the 'fruit' is edible but I haven't actually tried it.
DeleteBeautiful !!
ReplyDeleteStunning, such a beautiful and bold colour a real joy to see.
ReplyDeleteYour amaryllis looks gorgeous! That pot will be crammed full of beautiful flowers.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
Ohhhhh, gorgeous!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI keep saying I should get sprouted bulbs. And I don't. -sigh- Their fragrance would be so lovely.
OK, you already know, how to get your husband's "Attention"!!! Red! Red! Red! :-))))

What a beauty! :)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! That amaryllis is simply beautiful! Now I want one, after seeing yours. Seems like everything you grow, or bake, :) turns out beautiful. That red is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteYour amaryllis has provided you with an abundance of blooms. So pretty. I received one for Christmas which is currently about 8" tall with one plump bud. It's always so fun to see what they will reveal.
