The picture Sheila took of me is a little blurry but you can see me clutching my Teddy and holding a dried flower swag that I also got at the thrift store. That large tan object in the picture is actually in the store not on my arm.
Above... this is where the swag got hung, in the doorway from the living room to the dining room.
Below are two pretty .50 doilies that I couldn't resist buying.
Today I am making a traditional German fruit bread called Stollen. I make a large recipe and get 5 , 6 or even 7 finished Stollen depending how big I make them. I needed to make them today because DH is taking one along to a potluck lunch tomorrow.
Here are some images off the internet ( mine are still rising in the kitchen).
I hope mine look as good as those.
Thanks for coming by,
I love to read your comments so don't be shy!

The stolen looks delicious! Hope your was a success.
ReplyDeleteThe swag looks very pretty over the door! I've always wanted to try making stollen or something similar that the Norwegian folks around here make. If yours turns out well maybe you'll share the recipe?
ReplyDeleteMy recipe makes such a large amount that I went looking on-line for a similar one to mine that would make less. Betty Crocker has a good recipe but I added more fruit and raisins also added some pumpkin I had frozen after Thanksgiving. The pumpkin gives the bread a nice moist texture. Applesauce does the same thing. For this size of recipe I'd say half a cup but it is optional.
DeleteThat stollen sure looks good! You keep finding all kinds of treasures at the thrift store. You must have a large home. Another teddy to join your family! Nancy
ReplyDeleteThe swag looks great, I love it, bet I would love that fruit cake too!!
ReplyDeletePretty swag and the stollen looks really yummy!
ReplyDeleteI've often wanted to bake stollen myself - my grandmother used to make it, I hear, and later in life my father and mother used to make a Christmas outing of going up the mountain to a store that sold special German bakery goods and candies, and buy a few loaves to eat and give. One year after my mother died I went with my father and he gave me a loaf, which was so yummy!!
ReplyDeleteIf only I lived close to you I could happily bring you one!
DeleteI think I'll stick to the non-fruity coffee cake but that is gorgeous, isn't it? You are such a good treasure finder, GM! Happy week to you!
