A Christmas Tree and a Christmas Card

This is our town's Christmas tree planted in this spot  after the war. It is a Douglas Fir which was 2' tall then and now towers to a height of 85'.

My eldest daughter has so many different talents one of which is making cards. I have a shoe box full of the creations of past years. To make this one she cut a clear plastic ornament in half and made a "snow globe" by adding tiny stars then running a bead of glue all around to seal it.

My 'talent' is very different and seems to be making food. Here are some of the things that  I made this past week.

Apple crisp, raisin scones and cheese biscuits as well as cheese bread and buns ( with the breadmaker making the dough for me. So easy.)

I didn't get much done today because I went to the mall with DH to choose new glasses. ( He sat on his old ones).  Although the choosing them didn't take long the person helping us was very slow and took forever to do what little paperwork there was to do. When he goes to pick them up tomorrow I'm staying home.

Thanks for visiting,   GM

  2. That is a gorgeous tree! I love the live ones that are still planted and decorated each year. Tradition. My goodness that card that your daughter made is stunning. I can't even imagine the skill it takes to do that. And patience. And then you have to end with all of that yummy food. Could I come visit please. There is nothing I like more than bread,(except chocolate). Anything with dough is a favorite of mine and your treats look so good.
    Blessings,

  3. Hi G.M. Your Town's CHRISTMAS TREE is a really big one- thankfully someone had the sense to plant the Douglas Fir way back when...some of our older towns have large exotic trees that were planted many moons ago - they make the towns and villages look rather special and it is a welcome change from the usual native Gum Trees. Your Daughter is very crafty- the Christmas card is a delight -as is your splendid baking. Best Wishes. KEV. (Sydney-Australia).

  9. Wow, bet that took some effort to decorate such a tall tree -- and it turned out beautifully! Your daughter's card is EXCELLENT! I think it's a lot more fun to make brand new creations out of items -- she did such a great job! Making food is a perty durn good talent, too, I'd say. I miss having a good cheese bread ... so I'll be right over! 😁

  14. Your daughter is very talented. That is just such a clever card. It reminds me of some vintage ornaments I saw long ago, that were halved like that and had little snow dioramas inside! So precious!
