More Decorating and a Birthday

DH discovered a box of Christmas items that we somehow missed. In it were some of my deer ornaments and a tea pot that I had been looking for. I'm so glad we found that box.  I was beginning to think I had donated it by mistake.

Yesterday my DH turned 78.  Here he is with two of our sons.  We had a small celebration on Sunday  and another small gathering yesterday with different members of the family. We've kept the get-togethers small  and only with family members that we've been in constant contact throughout these past months.

He opted for Pumpkin pie instead of cake.  I had extra pie dough so I also made a small rustic apple pie.I meant for the picture of the pies to be before the  slice on a plate but Blogger had other ideas.

It's such a very wet and dreary day that we didn't even go walking. It's noon now and I've done some tidying and a load of laundry.  Now it's time to relax and read.

I hope you're having better weather than we have.  Thanks for visiting today,   G.M.

  2. I like pumpkin pie too.
Yes, we are having the same dreary weather as you are. We Zoomed with friends this morning and then Tom and I ventured out to do some stocking stuffer shopping. Stores had customers but none were crowded and we found what we needed.
This afternoon I have been having fun posting about more Christmas memories. I know you have memories tied to your Christmas treasures too.

  3. I also love Christmas-deers very much! I still search a small wooden anglew ith a deer from my childhood. I loved it so much and played with him often.

And naturally some excellent cake from your oven!!

Our weather is grey and calm and not cold, a silent time here in the Bavarian Forest, good time before Christmas -

The pies look wonderful. I may see if I can find a pie for Christmas. We need something cheerful since we'll be here alone again. I'm so glad you found your box of things. It can be so frustrating when you can't find something.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  10. love those deer ornaments. I have a favorite, (not an ornament) it's out year round. It's more a statue of momma and baby...I'll have to post about it. So sweet.

  12. Happy birthday to your husband! 🎂 Iabsolutely LOVE your little teapot and the sentimenton it! Sure glad you founf that box! // Did you know you can move your photos if they're not in the order you want in your post? Hover your cursor over the photo you want to move, a little placeholder replaces the normal cursor image... click on the photo and hold and rag to where you want it. If you haven't done it before it will take practice. Years ago when I first leearned this it took me a dozen tries, including deleting the photos and re-uploading at times. Make a test post you can play around with for different things and try it out. It's not hard once you get used to it. The alternative is to just upload one photo at a time in order as you write your post. Hope this helps you some. Blessings to you all! (And that pie looks sooooooo good!!)

  13. We are having the same weather here. Happy Birthday to your DH. Great picture of the guys.
I'm so glad you found that box as the little display with the deer is precious. After seeing the fox and many deer here this year, I want to be on the lookout for ornaments to remind me of that.
Yum to your pies. DH made the right choice.

  14. Happy Birthday to your husband. What a nice looking family you have. I must say I'm usually a pie person too, when it comes to my birthday....mince being my favorite along with sour cream raisin pie. Your pies look yummy, as most of the things you make, always do. Enjoy these fast-moving days leading up to Christmas!
