Cherries, Foxgloves and Keeping Cool

It's cherry season and when we did our grocery shopping this morning we picked up several bags of them.

We froze 4 bags and kept some for eating and maybe a Clafoutis. Who knows?  It's been so very hot that I have avoided using the oven.  We bought an air fryer yesterday. Walmart had them on sale. I hope to use it often in summer and experiment with doing various foods in it.  I thought it might come with a basic sort of 'cookbook' but it didn't.

A new camera has been ordered and hopefully arrive soon. The UPS van stopped here this morning but the package left was for my son.  We were out in the front yard watering the roses and cutting down some of the Foxgloves that look so strange at this point with their tall spires with a few last blooms at the very top.  With no camera I was forced to look on-line for something like mine. This will have to do.

Thanks for visiting,

I hope you're keeping cool.

  1. We really like our air fryer. It has been kind of a trial and error thing. I started to cut back the tallest Foxglove stalks, but the bees kept coming and going, in and out of the blossoms, so I just left them.

  2. I'm hoping cherries will be on sale when I do my shopping on Monday. It's sure hot out here, although the humidity is even higher than the temperature which always seems to make it worse. I'm pretty much just staying inside these days. :-) Oh well. I have lots of yarn to play with and Mom to visit with while Dennis is working.
    Blessings,

  3. Cherries were on a good sale today at the grocery and I got a bag. They are already mostly eaten! I hear ya about not wanting to put the oven on. I need to cut my gladiolas as you have cut your foxgloves. They look awful once they bloom, but last year I let them die down naturally (it took MONTHS and MONTHS) and my reward this year was a lot more plants and blooms! So now the garden is stuffed with bald-headed flower spires.

  7. I love foxgloves but dont seem to have much luck in growing them. I tried the Apricot ones last year but they were disappointing.
    How lovely the cherries look!

  8. I'm sure you'll love your air fryer. Surprised it didn't come with a little cookbook - mine did.
    LOVE cherries!!

  9. We arrived home from the island to a relatively cool house, with the AC set at 75. We may not be able to sleep in our beds upstairs though for a couple of nights.
We have been enjoying cherries too.

  11. Hi G.M. Those Cherries look very nice- My Mom and Dad grew up in our 'Cherry Capitol' in the Rural township of 'Young'. My Cousins still live at Young NSW Australia. Hope your new camera is a beaut! Regards. KEV.

  13. Oh, it's so hot there! I hope today isn't too terrible, but I know it will cool down to the 80's tomorrow, right? I love my air fryer! I will share the recipes that came with mine, if you'd like! Cajun shrimp is a favorite! Jenny cooked a yummy pork tenderloin in hers. I made "fried" chicken in it last night.

  14. Do you have to pit all those cherries before you freeze them? Sounds like a lot of work, lol. Stay cool!

  15. We saw a lovely stem of foxglove this week, too. I'm also not baking now. Too hot and humid in southern Ohio. Fresh fruit is the way to go for now.
