I'll start by thanking everyone who had some tips for me in solving my photo downloading. Seeing as I know nothing about computers ( and it seems that's where the problem is) I've given the problem over to middle son who will no doubt solve it sooner or later. Meanwhile I can get some pictures from the internet and they'll do just fine.
Strawberries are ready now and to me fresh strawberries are the taste of summer. DH picked up a flat (15 lbs) which were $3.30 lb. Not the cheapest fruit by far but worth the price. I'd be very interested in what strawberries cost in various regions.
It's on the cool side again today. I went out after breakfast to do some weeding and wore a light sweater. I noticed that more poppies are opening their fuzzy buds and Foxgloves are looking wonderful. So far I've only seen white ones and purple. Last year there were a few peach coloured ones and I've been keeping an eye out for those.
I finished a book that I had requested from the library. It was quite interesting and a quick read. It's all in the form of letters back and forth between 2 people who have never met but have a common interest.
The sun is shining and I must go sit on the porch swing. I hope you have a wonderful day.
G.M.
It's about the same price here I think, but so delicious when they're fresh!
ReplyDeleteFoxgloves and poppies, yes. Fresh strawberries, not yet. I'll have to check in at a Farmer's Market and get a few. I like to have a taste or two in season, but after many years of picking strawberries as a crop, as a kid, I am not crazy about anything but a few fresh ones, sugared, and with vanilla ice cream.
ReplyDeleteI've never bought that quantity of strawberries at once. I get our Florida grown Plant City Strawberries by the pint - usually 2 for $5. The book sounds good, reminds me of the old days of pen pals and blogs too. I hope your son can get your computer problem figured out for you soon. Have a great evening GM. :)
ReplyDeleteyour strawberries are beautiful........your foxgloves are beautiful ....... love that heart at the end!
ReplyDeleteThose strawberries look so good. I took Mom to the grocery store today before I fly to Spokane this morning. She bought strawberries for $2.99 lb. Not as cheap as normal but the, everything has gone up in the last month or so. It's really hot here so we've been inside most of the last two weeks. In the 90's every day.
ReplyDeleteThere have been so many gang shootings since we got back here. I don't know what's wrong with people. I was at church watering the flowers outside when I heard gunshots. I looked online when I got home just now and apparently there was a multiple person shooting just a few blocks from the church. I'm beginning to think we made a bad decision in moving home. I want to go hide in the mountains!
Take care and STAY Safe!
Blessings and hugs,
Betsy
I love strawberries but don't know off hand how much they cost. Will check it out next time I get some.
ReplyDeleteI have strawberries in the garden but only one was ready to eat. The strawberries are expensive but more tasty when they come from the south of France, than the big ones from Spain.
ReplyDeleteStrawberries here also are ripe and rather expensive, but we NEED them every day!
ReplyDeleteYes, now summer is really here - - the days still grow, and we have beautiful white evenings.
The heart with strawberries is so nice!
I love poppie! Since theday before yesterday I fond some wild plants in front of my house, so soft and fine red...
Right now strawberries are costly at stores... I'm sure at farmers markets they're cheaper. Your flowers are beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteI'll come sit with you on your porch swing if you don't mind.
Hi G.M.- I had a garden of Strawberries here many decades ago- they are easy to grow and are very nice tasting when home grown. Have a great week there. Regards. KEV.
ReplyDeleteYUM! I haven't bought any fresh strawberries this year but my SIL brought me some when I was so sick and making myself boost drinks a lot. But, I do love me a good fresh strawberry. I know in the grocery stores they run close to $3 a pound. I hope your week is going well GM. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteI love this time of year and strawberry picking, jam making and strawberry desserts.
ReplyDeleteFoxgloves and strawberries here, too. I enjoyed Meet Me at the Museum. Youngson has another book out that I read recently - Three Women and a Boat. I enjoyed it even more than the first one.
ReplyDeleteSorry the photo uploading continues to be naughty. Try Blogger in Draft (tell your middle son). That book looks interesting. I am rereading A Schoolteacher in Old Alaska. Your strawberries are cheaper than they are here. They are very high, right at $5 for the bigger size of plastic container (not the giant size).
ReplyDeleteFresh strawberries on pound cake and whipped cream is my hubby's favorite. Now, that's a real summer treat. Your porch swing sound perfect. I think I'll have my lunch in a bit in my favorite chair out under the shade tree. The book sounds like one I would enjoy.
ReplyDeleteI bought strawberries at the market yesterday for 2.50 euros - I don't know exactly how many there were, maybe 400 g ... they were delicious. We have a field nearby where we can pick ourselves ... I'll do that next week ... and eat while picking :-))) Eating strawberries - a dream!
ReplyDeleteMany greetings Viola
"I must go sit on the porch swing." Such good sense!
ReplyDeleteYears ago we would only ever have strawberries around the time Wimbledon tennis was on and I looked forward to them all year. Now with imports they always seem to be in the shops but aren't nearly so nice. Nothing beats locally grown strawberries. I hope you enjoyed sitting on your porch swing. x
ReplyDeleteI am not a computer person either...just keep my fingers crossed that there no problems. :) I paid 5.99 for a small carton of local strawberries last week. It was probably a pound. I wanted them so didn't even look at the weight or cost. They were delicious!
