My Day

It was raining so hard this morning that we decided not to go walking.  Now, in the afternoon, it is cloudy and dreary but plus 7 so not all that cold.
I decided to bake bread and the breadmaker is making the dough for me.  Once the bread is baked  I'll make a quiche for our supper. I want to try making a Lemon Pudding cake, a recipe new to me. I'll let you know how it turns out.

I put away most of the Valentine decorations. Left a few and added a couple of other pink items.

We started this 300 piece puzzle yesterday and finished it earlier. It's a fun one, easy to do, with nice big pieces. We've done it before. We will often redo a puzzle that we liked. We're always on the look-out at the thrift store for puzzles 500 pieces or less with pictures with lots of detail. Most puzzles are 1000 pieces and that's just too many for us.

I finished this library book and can recommend it as worth reading. NO bad language which seems to be hard to find these days. ( Don't I sound like the old granny that I am).

A Million Little Choices deals with marriage, infidelity, and restoration in a Southern location.

That's it for today.   Thanks for visiting.

  1. You are busy baker. I don't bake much anymore because we have no young people to eat the baked goods.

  2. Rain and grey color hallo. No morning walk possible, so a good idea is to produce a delicious bread and a famous lemon cake and to play with nice puzzles, with 300 -500 pieces not too big. Good friendship with good books *:*:*:*:

  3. I'd even be happy walking in the rain. :). Still so very cold and snowy here. The lemon pudding cake sure sounds good. Like the puzzle scene.

  5. You remind me that I haven't made Lemon Pudding Cake in awhile. I also have a recipe for the chocolate variety. They were always something quickly made to perk up a rather 'leftovers' sort of mid-week meal.
My resolve to walk every day fails when it is raining--or if the wind is sharp enough to make my face ache. I try not to be a 'wimp' but I'm something of a fair weather walker.

  6. Where can I find that new fangled GPS system? I need it for my house! Maybe it can tell me why I walked into a room to begin with. The book sounds interesting.

  7. Love that last meme. We must all feel the same. :-)
Homemade bread sounds really good. Piper is spending the night with us because school is canceled again for tomorrow. We rarely get a chance to have her overnight because now that she's in middle school she's so busy with school and activities. This is the third day this week it's been canceled. Tonight is supposed to be -24F with a feels like of at least -40F. They don't want the kids out in that. As soon as she knew it was canceled she texted me and asked if she could come over. She's plenty old enough to be at home but she loves to be with us and we love to have her.
Take care and have a great Thursday!
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  8. It has been a long time since I made bread. The weather here is the same as yours today, it was fine but very cold and now rain and mild temperatures hope not for long! I am also baking today but I must go grocery shopping and to the post office to send William’s 1rst Birthday present.

  9. I agree about the puzzle size - 250 pieces fits nicely on my tray.

  11. We get frustrated trying to do the 1000-piece puzzles anymore...it just stays on the table for ages.

  12. I made a lemon pudding cake for guests this month. It is one of my most-used recipes, and I love it so much. I like to make a raspberry sauce with frozen raspberries and sugar, to drizzle on top.

  13. Rainy days are good for baking. I made a yogurt cake today and some cinnamon buns for the family on Family Day. I try to not eat very much baking, but my husband likes having something on hand, so it seems I'm regularly pulling out the mixing bowls.

  14. Mmmmm, bread. I haven't made any in several years, except for quick breads. I love all the baking you do!
