Cats

This is our weather forecast for the coming days: rain, periods of rain. showers, rain and drizzle, mostly cloudy with showers and last of all rain tapering off.  I suppose I should be used to our wet winters and springs here on the west coast. This week marks 57 years since we left Manitoba ( after a night of snow!). We were so young and with a two-year-old and a 4 month-old we bravely set off with a small trailer with some of our belongings. That included 2 cribs. We were adventurous in those days lol.

Miss Kitty then.....

...and now

You all have heard about how Miss Kitty showed up  a couple of years ago, half-starved and pregnant. She had her 5 adorable babies and in due time they found good homes. She's an outside cat and although I worry that she'll get run over one of these days she has been very lucky. Lately we have a large, long-haired  mostly black cat that we've dubbed Hairy or Harry ( depending on his gender ). He's very sweet but Miss Kitty will have nothing to do with him. He sits on the little roof near my kitchen window and peers in at me. I know he wants in but that isn't going to happen. I hope the two of them will become friends. This week another cat appeared. This one is a tabby with a white bib.  You'd think word is out that this is the place to be if you're a cat. lol.

I'll leave you with the following....

Thanks for visiting.

  3. Thanks for the cartoon. Yes, cats do that. We have learned that our "borrowed" cat Charlie, known by other names, also gets handouts from other neighbors, even though he has a good home and is well fed.

  6. Oh,yes, we were adventurous back then, but if we had it to do over, we wouldn’t change a thing. Miss Kitty is fortunate to have found such a wonderful home, and doesn’t want to share it. Hilltop Post

  7. Just wondering if it should say 57 years ago, in 1968?

  8. As the 4 month old in question, I'm going to say it was 57 years, not 47 (much as I'd prefer to be 47 again). - Sheila :)

  12. I'm glad to have been settled in my "new place" for most of my life, as well, though I also haven't gotten used to the climate. The winters and summers are milder than where I grew up, but the marine influence makes me miss the warm summer evenings we used to enjoy -- BUT I don't miss the mosquitoes.... so I guess I should just be thankful for what I have. I was just telling someone the other day that I'm glad I live here where more varieties of plants can survive the summers.

  13. I would love to read more about your move all those years ago!
Not really a cat person, I like them but dogs suit me better. Our boy Clyde, though, has my heart. 16 and still going strong, and a real character.

  14. Our daughter has a cat he can goes in and out of the house as he likes but brought a friend with him inside one day and now they have two cats! It is not a stray cat he has a family but prefers our daughter’s house and to be with his friend! 😂
