I would have preferred a better weather forecast but hopefully the rain won't continue all day. To change the old saying a bit March Showers bring April Flowers.
I went to the thrift store today....found not a single thing. I forgot that it is Spring break and the store was full of young people as well as families. Tomorrow I'm planning on going to a different thrift store.
Maybe there I'll have better luck.
I made vegetarian quiche in ramekins for supper. Since the oven was on I quickly made an orange loaf. I've made it before and it's lovely. I'll post the recipe in case anyone wants to make it. It calls for a glaze when it comes out of the oven but I didn't bother.
Orange Loaf
Ingredients:
1 large seedless orange, peel & all
1/2 cup butter, melted and cooled
2 large eggs
*******
1 cup sugar
1 3/4 cup flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350*F Grease and flour a 9X5 loaf pan or line with parchment paper.
Cut orange into pieces and place in blender . Blend until the pieces are broken down. My blender had trouble so I added the eggs and butter at the point and it worked just fine.
In a large bowl mix dry ingredients. Add wet to dry and stir just until combined. Transfer the batter to the loaf pan. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
My computer seems to be stuck on BOLD. Hopefully turning it off for night will restore things to normal.
Thanks for visiting.

We had both rain and sunshine today.

What an ingenious recipe - I have similar one for lemon pie where you blend the entire lemon. So good! Must try this before it heats up so much that I can't use my oven. (:
ReplyDeleteThe orange bread sounds very good.
ReplyDeleteHappy Spring! Around here we say April showers brings May flowers! Not Spring here yet!
ReplyDeleteHappy Spring, GM!
ReplyDeleteOur thrift was picked pretty dry today too, although I came away with a few things. I think my favorite was a pair of silver plate salad tongs.

ReplyDeleteWe are actually hoping for some March showers. It's good to see some color in the woods. The Sarvis and Redbuds are dotting the hillsides now. Your orange loaf looks and sounds delicious.
ReplyDeleteHappy spring!
ReplyDeleteThe Quiche looks amazing, and the orange loaf sounds delicious. Our first day of spring didn't have very spring like weather either...rain and cooler temps both. But at least it wasn't snow! :)
