Years ago we looked at security screen doors and although we thought they were a great idea they were not in our budget. Now someone left one at the complex that Middle Son manages. People often "dump" unwanted things of all kinds near the bins on that property so this was no surprise. Dh has been repairing the door and finding parts that were missing. I'm so glad he's able to fix it. It looks rather formidable but I imagine we could remove it for 8 months of the year. I doubt we will. No doubt I'll be leaving the door open from 7 or 8 P.M. until the next morning with all the cool night air coming in. Because it is keyed from both inside and out there's no way an intruder can get it.
That's my news today. Oh yes, we had a lovely BBQ yesterday. The weather was on the cool side but with all the reports of excessive heat everywhere we are not going to complain.
Thanks for visiting.
Good Friday, kiss Andreja!
ReplyDeleteIsn't is cool how one little things like a new door or screen door can change the look something.?
ReplyDeleteWhat a lucky find and how fortunate to have a handy husband who could fix and install it! And it looks great in your house too!

It's very pretty with the design! I love how repairing things gives new life to them!
ReplyDeleteI wish the heat would spread itself around a little, for it's downright chilly these days! Your security screen door looks great - such a find!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful security screen door! It's amazing the things people leave behind, isn't it?
ReplyDelete... pleased you had a lovely BBQ.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
What a great find, looks great and very functional!
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice improvement to your entry! All the better in that it was free. I would love to have another screen door so I could have better air flow in the summer... I think the only reason I haven't got one already is, I'd rather look through my peep hole at people who knock on my front door, than to have them see me at the same time -- only because they are usually not people I know, but just there to sell me something.
ReplyDeleteIt is a lovely door! I love your blog header photos, too. And I am happy you enjoyed the BBQ.
ReplyDeleteFinding exactly what you want right by the disposal bins is such a great stroke of luck, especially since it was out of the budget years ago. It is wonderful that your husband has the skills to patch it up and get it working perfectly. Being able to leave the front door wide open all night to catch that cool breeze without worrying about safety is going to make a massive difference for your comfort. Your BBQ yesterday also benefits from that cooler weather, which is definitely a welcome relief compared to the extreme heat waves everyone else is dealing with right now.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great find! Glad your hubby was able to fix it up. Looks great. We're in the middle of week long extreme heat advisory, so envy your cooler temps and a BBQ.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful door. Have a nice day.
ReplyDeleteWoW, the door is great and it only cost you repairs. I wish I could say it's cool here but alas, it's not. Very hot and humid so I'll be staying inside with the a/c today.
ReplyDeleteI have one of those on my front door that Steve wanted installed before he passed away, for my safety. It was a gift of love and I truly appreciate it and enjoy it. I'm happy you have it 🥰
ReplyDeleteI love FOUND objects that I can be fixed, repaired or just reused.Great find
