The rain we had last week has not been kind to my Annabelle Hydrangeas. Their large flowers fell over once they got soaking wet. It doesn't look like they be able to pick them up again.
Likewise the lavender fell gently over. The heat we had before the rain "ripened" the lavender and the white 'snow' on the ground are the dry flowers.
On a cheerier note we had a fun time playing Dominoes this afternoon. Lots of laughter which makes a Mom's/ Gran's heart happy. GD Kate was back from a camping trip that was near the fruit growing part of B.C. and she brought us a 20 lb box of beautiful peaches. They need a day or so until they reach perfection then I foresee some delicious peach desserts.
That's it for today. The coming week will be very warm as no doubt it will be for many of you.
Keep cool if you can. I'm sure eating ice cream helps.

ReplyDeleteStay cool! The peaches look great! We freeze them...I just peel and section them sprinkle a bit of sugar and fruit fresh on them and then vacuum seal them and freeze...taste like fresh peaches in the winter!
ReplyDeleteI lost a hanging basket due to heavy rain. I doctored it as best I could but to no avail, it was a really pretty plant and I hated to lose it. Mr D and I love to play dominoes!!

ReplyDeleteI have baked with peaches once or twice, but my favorite thing to do with a good peach is to cut it up in a bowl and eat it with a little cream poured over...
ReplyDeleteFlowers are ephemeral, and fragile. They last a short time and are easily damaged. We wish they weren't but we love them when we can.
ReplyDeleteLike the cartoon. :). We played Mexican dominoes with David and Liz last Thurs. We all enjoy that too. I like to eat a nice raw juicy peach but I don't bake with them. Don't know why.
