Two of my Amaryllis are blooming. The frilly one is A. Nymph and the other is A. Terrra Cotta.
The other seven are showing no sign of blooming, in fact 3 of those look like they are going dormant. This is not the right time for dormancy. Another 2 months or so and they'll all go out on the porch to spend the summer there in a south-facing window.
Another week begins and we're coming up to Valentines Day. Do you do anything to mark it?
Here the emphasis is mostly on Middle Son's birthday and it's a special one as he turns 50. Now I'll have 4 children in their 50's. How can that be? It's hard for me to believe.
Thanks for visiting, GM
That double Amaryillis is wonderful! Nothing special here for Valentines Day. I'll cook us a nice dinner, and I'm sending Starbucks online gifts to my kids and grands
ReplyDeleteOh I iwish that we were neighbors so that I could get your advice when it comes to Amaryllis. I love them and yours are beautiful. I'm wondering what I do with the one I received in the flower pot for Christmas, now that it's quit blooming.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Mine have only got leaves, sadly.
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty flowers to help cheer the dismal winter days! When the kids were still home I always made a heart shaped cake with pink or red frosting to have after dinner. We gave them each a card and something chocolate. Hubby and I exchanged cards but not gifts (no money for such things back then). We still exchange cards and sometimes go out to dinner but it's not a big celebration. I send cards to all the grands, even though three of them live within in a fifteen minute drive I mail the cards because kids love to get mail.
ReplyDeleteI am so jealous of your flowers I tried one this year but only got leaves.
ReplyDeleteAt this point in our lives we don't do much maybe trade cards but that is it. I use to work for a florist and Valentines day we were run ragged I would drag myself home after a 12 hour shift and hope husband got something ready for dinner lol.

Beautiful flowers. I agree about the kid's ages. I can hardly believe how old my children are. Where did that time go?
ReplyDeleteI love the frilly one. So Pretty!!!
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty colors in your amaryllis.
ReplyDeleteI am sure it is hard to believe that you will have 4 "children" in their 50s. Time sure does fly!
It's really hard to believe, how fast time is running! In Germany we say: On the children you see, how old you are :))
ReplyDeleteThe Amaryllis are beautiful! I love them! I've got one (cut) on my birthday on Dec. 31, and she is still blooming - I put it into our little church to praise the Lord.
Those amaryllis are really beautiful. I've never had any. Happy Birthday to your son. It's a month for birthdays. My sisters was yesterday and mine was the 1st. Two good friends are on Valentine's Day.
ReplyDeleteBlessings and hugs,
Betsy
Oh my.....that frilly amaryllis is so beautiful. I haven't seen one like that before! For Valentine's Day we usually go out for a nice dinner or bring something home that we love...but this year.....Ash Wednesday falls on Valentine's Day so we won't be having dinner out or having a fancy dinner dining in. Maybe we will do that on Thursday or Friday instead! Hope you have a great Valentine's Day. Take Care Granny!
ReplyDeleteOur youngest will be 51 this year...time is flying by!!
ReplyDeleteHappy week!
hugs
Donna
How exciting to have two of your Amaryllis plants blooming! Amaryllis Nymph and Amaryllis Terra Cotta must be adding such beautiful splashes of color to your home. It's always a delight to see these vibrant flowers brightening up indoor spaces during the winter months. Enjoy the blossoms of your current blooms, and hopefully, the rest of your Amaryllis plants will follow suit soon!
ReplyDeleteThe double Amaryllis is beautiful !
ReplyDeleteI wish you a Happy Valentine day!
Happy Valentine day! I also have Amaryllis but they will bloom in Spring here (Greece) Thanks for the post!
ReplyDeleteYour Amaryllis look lovely.
ReplyDeleteYes, the years go by so quickly.
As well as the children the grandchildren are getting older! Our eldest one will be 20yr this year.
Happy Valentines Day on Wednesday.
All the best Jan
Your amaryllis flowers are beautiful. I have never had any that re-bloom. You must take very good care of them. Enjoy your family celebration! And Happy Valentine's Day.
ReplyDeleteYour amaryllis are just so beautiful! I've yet to get mine to bloom. I'm thinking its probably not going to happen. Amazing that you have 4 children in their 50s - I just turned 50 this year myself. It is amazing how fast the years fly on by! Many blessings to you dear friend! Happy Valentine's Day!
