Birdhouses

Karen was wondering if the metal  that surrounds the holes in my birdhouses would bother the birds. These two houses  in my front yard  are quite old but in spite of the decorations I've glued on they are used by Chickadees each summer.
The Hummingbirds and heart on the first one came from a small set of wind chimes .

This second piece of metal was meant as a  fancy front door back plate.

I'm glad these ideas can be helpful to others who have a squirrel problem.

  2. Cute idea reusing the parts of an old windchime! I have a few of those around here! Squirrels are hard on birdhouses...looks like yours are squirrel proof now and baby birds will be safe:)

  9. I love these birdhouses! Chickadees nested in my (bluebird) house last spring... I would love to have more houses for our feathered friends. I understand that they need to be facing a certain direction, having to do with the wind. Are all of yours facing the same way?

    1. I don't think we even thought of which direction the houses faced. We just put them so we could see the fronts from the house. This doesn't seem to have prevented birds from using them.
