It is COLD. And very windy. I have been house bound most days this week and although I really miss going for my walks I have been going through my books and organizing them. I do love organizing!! I was not happy with how crammed some of my bookshelves were and couldn't think where I could possibly fit in another book shelf when I realized that a certain little cupboard would be perfect. I found this piece at a garage sale a couple of years ago. I loved the look of it but the shelves inside are shallow and it has remained empty. Until now. Most of my Bird, Butterfly, Nature type books fit in to it and the sun room seems an appropriate place to keep such. Why it took me so long to think of it I don't know.
Last night's supper. We each had what we wanted in our little ramekins. The recipe calls for a pie plate but for us it's more practical to have individual ramekins. I added
roasted peppers to mine while DH added a diced leftover piece of ham.
Crustless Quiche
In a greased pie plate put fried onions, garlic, peppers, meat, whatever you have in the fridge.
Pour the following mixture over then sprinkle grated cheese on top. Bake @ 400 until set and golden -brown.
1 cup milk
2 large eggs ( or 3 smaller ones, doesn't make much difference)
1/2 cup flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
pinch of salt
Whisk until well mixed.
Couldn't be simpler and it has never failed to turn out.

The quiche looks very yummy. I saved your recipe for future use, although I only have pie plates. And I love your book storage, such a cute picture painted on it! Thanks for sharing. Have a blessed weekend!
ReplyDeletePerfect place for your books.
ReplyDeleteThe quiche looks delicious.

ReplyDeleteWhat a nice cabinet! :)

Oh, I like this recipe! Going to give it a try. Ours will more than likely be done in a pie plate, but I love the fact that you can kind of "clean out the fridge" with it! Thanks so much for sharing the recipe. And your little cabinet is perfect for your nature books! I do so enjoy your sunroom.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen anything like that bookshelf! And yes, it looks just right... A sun room is so important in a cold climate!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great solution for your books. Loved the look of the quiche, yum!
ReplyDeleteYes you can use the oil for frying. I use the oils in everyday cooking where it asks for oil to be added. Hope that helps.
I would like to try the recipe, but don't know if my husband would eat it...someday I should do it just for me.
ReplyDeleteGreat that you remembered the bookshelf...now you will have some room. For a while!
What a perfect supper!
ReplyDeleteMy mom has a bit of cabin fever. It's so unseasonably FREEZING, isn't it?
Cute shelf! I'm glad you are going to read A Circle of Quiet again!
What a great quick quiche recipe! I may have to try that. I would miss the crust ... I love pastry ... but I sure wouldn't miss having to make it!
ReplyDeleteThe cabinet is just adorable! I often take forever to come up with a good idea, and then wonder why in the world it took so long :)
Just like everyone else, I love the bookshelf! I've been culling my books and now in my new place I find my shelves aren't quite full. Luckily there is a library book sale on Thursday! I also have a large tote full of books stored in the barn, so I may be visiting the thrift store to find more bookshelves! Oh, darn. :) Saving that easy quiche recipe. Just right for a single gal. Hugs to you, GM!
