One of my favourite suppers is a Dutch Baby. I know I've mentioned them before but some of you are new and may not be familiar with this wonderful pancake. Allrecipes.com has the exact recipe that I use.
This time I made a Blueberry sauce using some of the berries we picked last July. It was delicious!!
When this is on the menu we don't need anything else ( except maybe a cup of decaf coffee).
Our house is 40 years old and although the countertop was replaced sometime maybe 20 years ago it is dull and never looks as shiny as I'd like it to. After looking on-line I went to buy Turtle Wax ( for cars) and my DH applied it, and after it dried he took his buffer to shine it up. It worked! I only hope it lasts at least a month or more.
We went to do the grocery shopping this morning and I chose another Primrose.... a pink one this time. The yellow one is still doing fine too.
So that's what's been happening here. It's a rainy day and it feels chilly and damp. I'm sitting here with a warm throw over my lap like an old lady. Wait a minute... I AM an old lady.
Thanks for visiting so faithfully,
I appreciate your friendship.

Haha! You make me giggle. I sat most of the afternoon on the couch too, watching youtube shows and crocheting a shawl. Adam was gone. We sometimes enjoy a Dutch baby pancake too! They are yummy. Tonight he came home with only an hour to make supper, so he made us a baked French toast with some on-sale French bread he bought in town. Quite yummy. Your countertop looks lovely - in fact, your whole kitchen looks sparkly and nice, and your hubby looks very helpful :)
ReplyDeleteAre your counter tops stainless steel? I love Dutch Babies but have never made my own. Something to try.
ReplyDeleteNope, just plain old Laminate.
DeleteThat pancake looks wonderful and I am going now to find the recipe.
ReplyDeleteGood idea about how to shine up the counter tops again.
Tell your DH he did a good job! I never would have thought of Turtle Wax. And both of your primroses are beautiful! Have a blessed evening!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Dutch Baby! It has been quite a while since I made one. And I have blueberries in the freezer that I could make the sauce for on it, too! That would be a bonus because it would free up some more space in the freezer. :) Thank you for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing the pictures of your kitchen. It is so nice and what a wonderful husband you have that he would apply the wax and use the buffer afterward on your countertops.
I saw that the store where we shop had Primroses on sale. If they are still on sale when we get to town next week I may pick one up just to have some color in the kitchen window.
You'll have to keep us updated as to how long the wax lasts on your countertop. I remember using wax on the windows of my house one year. Interesting that my countertop is now shiny in the places that I use the most, so much so that it looks wet in those areas. Your pancake looks interesting...do you bake it in a cast iron pan?
ReplyDeleteEllabie
Yes, I do use a cast iron pan. I actually have 3 of them. Two are the regular size ( maybe 11"?) one is kept for savoury food and the other for sweet. Funny thing is that I made the Dutch Baby in the savoury one and we didn't even notice! The small pan W. uses if he just wants to fry an egg or a piece of farmer sausage. I got rid of all my other frying pans and use cast iron exclusively. Son J just got an enamel coated cast iron and loves it.
DeleteThat looks delicious, it looks like something that we would call a Yorkshire Pudding over here. The primroses are beautiful and brighten a dreary day.
ReplyDeleteI hope the Turtle Wax works.
ReplyDeleteIt's sunny here but I'm cold, too.
I hope you have a great week, GM!
I need to keep that hint in mind about the turtle wax...bet it would work for other things, too. LOVE that pink primrose.
ReplyDeleteHa ha! This old lady loves to sit with a fleecy throw over her lap, too! The Dutch Baby looks delicious. I've wanted to try making one of those. Thanks for reminding me! Kudos to your handy hubby! :)
ReplyDeleteI forget completely about Dutch Babies, now that I rarely have a crowd to cook for. But there's no reason I couldn't make one for myself! I think I might do that this evening. :-) Thanks for the inspiring photo!!
ReplyDeletePretty Flowers! I should try that recipe! We are always looking for something new to try:)
ReplyDeleteI need to try making a Dutch Baby! I've become a cast iron pan convert of late.

I love your colorful collection of Primroses! I could use some blooming flowers in the midst of this dreary winter! I also think your countertop looks great and the dutchbaby looks delicious, especially with those beautiful blackberries!
ReplyDeleteThe countertop treatment looks like a great idea. I wonder if I could do that on a wooden table top.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately the directions say not for use on vinyl, wood or flat paint.
DeleteYour Dutch Baby looks delicious! Your counter top looks great, so nice of hubby to buff it out for you!
ReplyDeleteVisiting from Dianna's blog. Had to check out the Dutch baby pancake! Hugs and blessings, Cindy
