More bits of This and That

It seems inevitable that there's always a back corner of the yard that looks less than lovely. DH put up a piece of plywood then painted it and the bright blue water barrel with some charcoal paint he had.
With the watering cans hanging there it looks a bit more presentable. ( Behind the plywood is where the lawn mower, generator, etc. are kept).

I froze more summer savoury. I tie it in bunches the size I will need for a pot of soup.

Tomatoes are at their best right now. Our 4 plants supply us with more than enough.

I put up a Fall decoration on the front door. I'm aware that I'm rushing the season but I'm tired of Summer and the heat and drought.

Thanks for visiting today. Have a delightful weekend.

  6. You have a rain barrel! Something else I'd like to do. Oh my the list. I admit, I've thought more than once about bring up the fall decorations. Summer has lost it's flavor for me, it's been so dreadfully hot/humid. I'm rather tired of it,and look forward to the cooler fall days, and colorful scenes. In a few weeks I will put out the fall stuff, I don't have alot,it is enough for me, just to usher in my favorite season. I hope your eye feels better. Warm Compress? I like vegatable soup also, have some broth in the freezer, with some crusty overnight bread YUM!

  7. That corner with the watering cans and water barrel looks very nice! I have a whole utility yard that could use some tidying up like that...

    The tomatoes are bee-yoo-tee-ful!

  8. Well, look at you rushing into autumn! I found myself, as I was walking on my trail, thanking the Lord for the beauty of summer, and then thanking him for winter as well! It's going to come. May as well be thankful! (There is a lot of beauty in it along with the hardships.) Thanks for reminding me I have a half of a tomato in the fridge that needs to be eaten quickly! Good idea with the herb bunches. :)

  9. I wanted to come reply about your question about the rooster...you ask if he was fierce. No, not at all. Just a pet really. And when he finds something to eat, he calls the girls over so he shares everything. I had more pics of them over on my other blog 3 or 4 days ago. I was afraid if I waited to reply on my blog, that I would forget to answer.

  10. Oh, your rain barrel is charming! I want one. We haven't been getting much rain, though. I think I'm almost ready for fall, too. I do like the warmth outdoors after sitting inside in the AC.

  11. I am ready for fall too. August is just too hot and humid to enjoy being outside. Your little wall behind the rain barrel and the watering cans looks good. I love to fix up a spot like that...and we have lots that need fixing up.

  12. I'm tired of summer too, Granny M, and I'm not ashamed to say it! Some folks can't get enough of the heat, but not me. I like the sign on your door!
