Morning Walk, House next Door, and a Fondue party

Scenes from my morning walk. It's nice to get out early before it gets too hot.

The house that's being built next door is almost finished. Yesterday the driveway was poured and today a 5' cedar fence is going up between our yard and theirs.  Our house ( on the left) is dwarfed by the new one.

The most important part of today was a fondue party for stuffies that M had requested.
I was happy that his big sister at 16 didn't consider herself too old to be a part of our little party.
I'd love to include pics of the grands but their parents don't want that so of course I won't.

That's been my day so far.  In Canada this coming Monday is a holiday so for any Canadian followers I wish you a happy long weekend.

Thanks for visiting,

G.M.

  1. I am about afraid to say this, but the house next door to you looks like a monstrosity to me. I might like it in its own setting, but to come in there it is just flat out ugly. I cannot even remember how you feel about it. I really do not mean to offend with this.
The college I attended for a year was an old college...right as I left the area they build a new Abe Lincoln museum and built some modern looking thing that was so UGLY...why mix that up at a place with beautiful old buildings?

  2. Rose, I am totally in agreement with you. The house has NO CHARM.

  3. What time do you get out and walk? Maybe we are out walking at the same time. : ) I leave around 6:30 or so and I'm back home around 8:00 or so. Sometimes later if I stop and talk!!

    1. I'm not sure what time zone you're in. I'm in Pacific DST and I leave at 8:30. You're probably back about the time I leave???

  4. I agree with you and Rose. The house just doesn't seem to fit the neighborhood. For me personally... too many windows to wash!!

  5. I agree, its form is awfully clunky, and the different colors emphasize the parts, which wouldn't look so unlovely, perhaps, if it were painted all one color.

Too bad, Granny! There are houses and a whole block in my neighborhood that I don't even like to walk past... Usually it's because the yard is ugly. But there are plenty of houses that draw attention to themselves when they ought to be more modest and just do their job.

  8. Wow, that is a BIG house next door. I'm so glad you're having a natural fence/barrier, rather than a chain link fence. The fondue looks yummy!

  9. That ISS is so interesting. It will be over our place at 9:26 pm. Last night we had about 3 minutes of viewing and poof it was gone. Fascinating. I did a little reading up about it, and it has NO lights, it's all the sunlight reflecting off the craft. 17,000 some mph. Thank you stopping over. Maybe we'll both be looking at it at the same time..that fondue looks good.

  10. With my husband's family being Canadian,I always think of you dear folk when you have a holiday. :-)

That house next to yours has a certain modern look to it.
My husband is in the business of construction and some of these million dollar homes are so modern, not my taste, I'm a country girl, but change always comes.

Enjoy the remainder of your weekend~

  11. Looks like that house is snugged up against both neighbors! Like Chy said, "Hope they're a nice family!" I took a nice trail walk this morning, too. So, you'll get to look at my pics later, ha ha!

  14. Well I must say that the house in its own setting would be lovely but sorta looks a little out of place. But, everyone to their own huh? I hope the family is nice to you. My middle daughter recently got new neighbors and she said they were so nice. But then my daughter works 4 days a week outside the home and her family is involved in several activities so not around much to be neighborly. I hope that you have a great week dear lady. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  15. What a marvelous place to take your walk . . . the lake looked lovely and the first photo with the willow tree in the foreground is beautiful. I have fond memories of playing under an old willow tree when I was a child . . . they make great playhouses :) Our daughter doesn't want her girls in my blog either and I respect that decision, after all you don't know who might be watching and looking. It's a big world out there, filled with people who care and are kind and some others with no morals at all. It's wise to be on the protective side with our little love ones. Sweet tea party :)

  17. I follow a fantastic Victoria wool store on Instagram and I wondered why they said they were open. I love your fondue party! How fun!
Yes, I've been walking in the morning, too. It's MUCH nicer.
    Happy August, dear GM!

  18. You have a pretty place to walk. The fondue party sounds fun. Bet your grandchildren are sweet and fun to be with. That new house is very unusual looking. Yes, I would be tickled over the fence going up. Oh, in your last post, I love the flower arrangement, the long things too. Can't believer you spent just one dollar on the flowers.

  19. It is a lovely walk. Great way to start any day. Does no one build a small home any more?

    1. The price of a lot has sky rocketed in recent years so that only the very well-to-do are able to afford to build. And they choose to build very big houses!!
