This and That

I'm sure many of you are busy baking last minute goodies this week. I'm wearing an apron made many years ago by my youngest sister. She has given me another one, even prettier, which I'll try to show next time. I love getting them out every year.

I made Biscotti, some just with Pistachios and others with Pistachios and fruit.

I remembered to take a picture of a Stollen that I sent along with DH for the Gleaner's Christmas luncheon.

On our morning walks we pass a  senior's building which is nicely landscaped and at Christmas, decorated outside and also in the lobby.

Continued on and admired the snow on the mountains....

...and the Heron who seems to be spending the winter here. Excuse the unsightly garbage in and around this area.

Thanks for stopping by,

Granny M.

  1. Doesn't that lobby look inviting, lovely to see a Nativity set.

  2. We made brownies, reindeer poop (oreo balls) and sugar cookies for my daughter's cookie exchange. In exchange, I am now the proud owner of 2 dozen different types of cookies that keep calling me.

Your walks are so soothing! I'm a wee bit envious :)

  6. You have sure been busy! Nice apron...I hate wearing one, but I do a lot of times when frying bacon at least. And I love to make them! I think cause we don't really have to worry about them fitting. I don't know why I hate to wear one...my mom always wore one. YOu seldom saw her without it.

  7. Your stollen looks incredible! In fact, everything you make looks delicious! Love your Christmas apron too....what a nice gift from your sister. My daughter made me a darling red sweatshirt decorated with Christmas kitties and bulbs and baubles and sparkles, years ago.....I dig it out every Christmas! Wishing you a wonderful Christmas!

  8. I have never made biscotti either, but yours looks really good. Today i baked our Swedish Cardamom bread. It went into the freezer to await Christmas morning.

  9. Love your apron and the wonderful memories associated with it. Your biscotti looks so good. I have been meaning to try it for years and years. It doesn't seem too complicated so I don't know what is holding me back. I've never tried stollen baking either. We have been enjoying Aldi's version this year which has been delicious.

    1. Now I'll always think of my lake ( which has the plain old name of Mill Lake) as The Lake of Shining Waters. (You must be an Anne of GG fan)

  11. All of the treats look so good. Mmmmm! Especially the stollen. I haven't had stollen since my Grandma passed almost 40 years ago. The lobby looks very cozy and comfortable. I imagine that it has some seats by that fireplace. If you ever make it back down to our area, we have a couple of guest rooms so you wouldn't even need an RV anymore to visit Coeur d'Alene. You would be most welcome to visit!
    Blessings,

  12. Your baking looks so yummy! And the apron is so cute! You have such a lovely place for your walks, can you walk there from your home, or do you have to drive to it?

  14. Your Christmas apron looks in better shape than mine, that's for sure! I wear aprons all the time in the kitchen as I tend to be rather messy! I like having aprons for the different holidays/seasons but alot of mine are in need of replacing by now as they are faded. Your stollen look absolutely delicious! I have never made them or biscotti, perhaps something to add to my "to-try" list when I retire? We went to a Christmas concert put on by the authentic Germans who have recently immigrated to this area and they had a 40 foot buffet table laden with German desserts for their coffee & dessert part after the concert! They had Stollen there as well! Delicious!

  15. Good looking baked goods! I like the Christmasy senior building. When I lived in my apartment a few years ago my landlady always went berserk with decorations. It was kind of nice! Cute apron!
