Creeping Buttercup, Geese, and Crepes

On our morning walks lately I've been struck by how pretty the Creeping Buttercup looks. As you probably know Creeping Buttercup  is a very invasive weed but originally it was sold as an ornamental plant.  Once it takes a hold in your garden you will be fighting with it endlessly.

The first goose family we saw a couple of weeks ago now has half-grown goslings. They were having a nice nap when we walked by.

Last night we had what must be one of my favourite suppers...crepes filled with cottage cheese with a nice thick blueberry topping.  Yum!   We picked those berries last July. I still have several bags of them in the freezer and I'm hoping we don't run out before the new season begins.

Thanks for visiting today.
Thanks to those who leave a comment. I love to read them.   G.M.

  2. The napping geese look happy and content and not at all threatened by you. I used to take my Mother-in-law to lunch at Village Inn often when we lived in the midwest in the same town. She always ordered blintz's, which are crepes just like yours. She always ordered the blueberries too. You could choose between blueberry and strawberry toppings. A very good memory.
    Blessings,

  4. I recently recommended to a friend that she just leave the buttercups alone in a back corner of her yard as she contemplates a big redo. You will never win by fighting them and she wants low maintenance. She agreed. They are pretty.

  5. Those crepes you had, look marvelous. I must always be hungry when I read your blog.....or something. Never have seen those buttercups but they look pretty in your picture. And wow, did those geese get big fast. I suppose they'll have to fly somewhere this Fall. Enjoy your blog!

  7. Oh, all those Gosling's are so cute...so glaf you at least can show them. I have not been any place to see any.

One time we were on the south end of Terre Haute...and 4 lanes of traffic were stopped to let a family of geese cross the road.

  10. Supper looks delicious :)
The goslings look so sweet all sleeping together, but I an not so sure about the creeping buttercups. I like weeds growing in the wild and along the roadside (they prettify things) but I am not so keen on them when they invade my garden!

  12. as always my visit with you is a joy. I like crepes, my mom was Hungarian and we call them Palacintas ( not the correct spelling). Cottage cheese is a very good filling for these, small curd. We also spread jelly/jam and roll them up. A delicious treat. Those blueberry with the cottage cheese. oh my that looks good.

  13. Your crepes look SO good. Our blueberries in the freezer are about gone...makes me sad.

And, also, I love your little garden in the back. It reminds me of something that my paternal grandma would have done. She loved her flowers and worked her flower garden up until she was about 95 years old. She passed away just four months shy of turning 100.

  14. Those goslings are so cute. Creeping buttercup is a bit of a problem in my garden, but digging it out in the spring seems to help. That's a delicious looking supper. We ran out of our home-frozen blueberries a couple of weeks ago and I bought a box - still local, from Vancouver Island, so that's a consolation.

  15. I think these buttercups are the same weed we have in all our pastures. They keep the grass from growing until their blooming season is over, so one can understand why farmers hate having them.

  16. The goslings are huge! My daughter in Wisconsin was just remarking about how the goslings at their pond are getting bigger every day. I'm so happy I get to see goslings in other people's pictures!

And, oh my, cottage cheese in crepes, and the toppings... I could really enjoy such a meal. I had my eye on a buckwheat pancake/crepe recipe just this week and I think I will find it and get busy.
