This and That

I noticed that several comments were asking whether I could post links to the blogs I mentioned yesterday. I'm terribly sorry but I have no clue how to do that. I find that just typing in the name of the blog I can find it. I am sorry. My computer skills are very few.

A lovely morning and I had a nice walk. DH was at his volunteer job so I walked by myself. Incidentally, Gleaners, where he volunteers, just received 40,000 lbs of frozen French Fries which now have to be chopped and dried to become part of the soup mix that ends up being sent overseas to needy countries.  (The fries were seriously past their "best before date" so rather than throw them away they were sent where they could be of some use.

A couple of pics of the lake where there were quite an assortment of water fowl including a few pairs of Shovelers  whose large shovel-shaped bills and rust coloured sides make them easy to identify. They were wary so I didn't get a great shot.

I hope your week is coming along nicely. For those to whom it actually makes a difference...the week is about done.  I find that being retired every day is much like the others. Good thing I have sort of a schedule of what I do which day ( and a calendar hanging in the bathroom so I know which day it is!!)

Thanks for coming by,  G.M.

  1. Such a lovely place to walk each day! Always something delightful to see! I understand how easy it is for days to all run together, and a calendar certainly does help! What a blessing your husband must be to volunteer with the Gleaners, and to be able to make a difference for people who are less fortunate than us. That sounds like a lot of french fries! Many blessings to you today!

  2. Yes, each day is pretty much the same for us too, especially now that we have been 'going to church' on line.
Sounds like a lovely walk around the lake. That's sure a lot of frozen French fries to cut up!!!

  3. These are fine photos of your meeting with the ducks! What a beautiful lake near your home!

It is very good, that somebody is making a good plan for giving the pommes to regions, where food is rare! Welldone!

I think it is easy to give the name in google to find the blog.

I also have a plan for each day in the week. To look after the animals in my small ranch every day is the same, but at home I have different "charakters" of the days in a week.

  4. The lake looked beautiful today! I always grumble to myself if I cause the wild ducks to fly away.

  6. I totally get the what day is it?!!! My Husband still works (we are not at retirement age) but as a homemaker who does not have a professional paid job (am thankful I am a wife and can do this now! I remember my working days!) and I can get days mixed up ... PLUS we were at extra church services Monday-Tuesday so today I was convinced that it was already Friday! LOL! God bless you~! I always love your blog! and I am glad you can do the blog, don't worry about the technical things beyond what you do! :)

  7. Haha, my days all run into each other - I have to check my phone to see what day it is (we don't have any calendars in the house, I just realized). It is quite nice in a way, not worrying about what day of the week it is :)

  8. Nice place to walk.
I don’t know myself which day we are most of the time I have to look at my phone!
Thank you for your visit and comment.
    Take care

  9. That is a lot of fries, that sounds like it would equate to a lot of soup. Beautiful lake setting for a walk, I am not good with technology either.

  10. I only know the day of the week because Dennis is still working and they still run together. Your walk was beautiful and thank you for sharing the ducks with us. I was able to find all of the vlogs and have subscribed to them all. As I have had time I've been watching past episodes.
Bless your husbands heart for doing the Lords work with the Gleaners. What an appropriate name for the group. Please thank him for me.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  12. I get my days confused every now and then, and when I do, it is hard to get my mind straight. LOL That has not happened in a while, but it is funny when it happens. Sometimes. That lake looks so serene...

  13. I'm looking forward to retirement, but I'm also a little apprehensive about staying busy. It will take awhile to get into the routine, I guess. My husband will still be working. My father volunteers at Gleaners - I wonder if he has ever worked alongside your husband? Have a good weekend.

  14. Oh yes, I have calendars up and about, too! What an unusual duck! I had not heard of this kind. Those bills look like they are good eaters, just "shoveling" it in!

  15. Beautiful photos from your walk. So good that those fries will be used. It looks like we all agree about that it is difficult to remember what day it is :D It is so here too, my husband and I ask each other all the time "which day is it today?"

  19. Love that you have such pretty places for a walk. Girl...I work PT and my days still run together! I am an AVID note maker and list maker. CRAZY. I see these younger women with their phones and here I am with my paper and pen. LOL! Whatever works right? Happy Day to you dear GM. Thank you for your well wishes too for my eyes. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
