September is going out with glorious sunshine! A whole week of it (which we don't take for granted here on the west coast.) As I left on my walk this morning I marveled at how much sunshine affects our moods ( at least it does mine).
I hadn't walked very far when I saw a dragonfly lying on the road. I picked it up and put it in a sunny spot to see if it just needed drying off. Unfortunately when I came back it was still lying there obviously dead.
This is "my" bench near the lake. I like to stop here and watch for birds. Today as I sat quietly I heard a rustling in the bushes and a young raccoon came out. He paused to look at me then ambled off.
Kev asked if I'd post some pictures of my DH's tractor collection. So, Kev, here are a couple...
That's my post for today. Now I'm planning to go outside and enjoy the afternoon sunshine.
Thanks for stopping by, GM
My husband worked for John Deere as a Parts Manager for 35 years... we enjoyed seeing your DH's collection.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry for the dragonfly. Maybe it had some poison inside? But it has got human empathy in the end of its life. God loves all His creatures - -
ReplyDeleteOh a young raccoon! We dont have these nice funny animals here in the Bavarian forest.
Nice place to meditate by the river -
A fine collection of tractors you have -
Enjoy the sun as long as possible, I think you do!
I remember with fondness the old John Deere tractor my old farmer neighbors had. We called those old tractors "Poppin. Johns" for the sounds that they made from their exhaust stacks.
ReplyDeleteWe had bright sunshine here too. I washed a load of laundry and put it outside on the drying rack I had for swimsuits at the lake. It's coming in handy here too! I know my days of being able to do that are numbered and it will soon be cold and snowy.
ReplyDeleteHow sad for the dragonfly. It's beautiful and I'm glad you tried.
Blessings,
Betsy
Such a nice place to sit, ponder and watch the wildlife. Great collection of tractors.
ReplyDeleteHi G.M. - Thank you for posting DH's JOHN DEERE Collection - very nice indeed- I think his models are around 1/16th or 1/18th scale...mine are 1/32nd. A very pleasing neat display. Do enjoy the sunshine on your walks. Regards. KEV.
ReplyDeleteThe bench looks very inviting, a nice place to sit and enjoy the day! I like the tractor collection, it's been a long time since I've had a ride on one. When I was a young girl I've loved to ride on them.
ReplyDeleteOh my! What a great collection of John Deere. We owned a John Deere mower and it lasted us for many years. Finally upgraded this year to one of those new jobs called Zero turn. We keep our stuff forever! LOL! Glad you enjoyed your walk. We have had some rainy days here but Lordy I need to make the time to get out and walk. Have a good week. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteWe've had a bunchy of those beautiful sunny days too. The rain is here today though. A great place to sit a while.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could sit and enjoy that bench with you! Looks like a wonderful place to just sit and watch and see what you can see. I like the John Deere Collection.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a very nice place to sit on that bench. It is good to sit down and let the impression of nature fill you. It gives peace. And so fun to see a raccoon! Well, they might be common for you. But to me it sounds very exotic :) Lovely collection of John Deere!
ReplyDeleteI love sunny days in the fall! I could stay outside the whole long day! I like your spot to rest and do some nature watching.
ReplyDeleteI could join you on that bench, sitting quietly and not talking. I'm always seeking out seats like that, just to sit quietly and watch the wildlife.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you have sunshine! I hope the smoke isn't an issue.
ReplyDeleteDragonflies are so pretty!
Cute tractor collection! I'm glad you are still able to take your nice morning walks. I hope the lovely weather continues! The bench location looks perfect - secluded, and a great spot for watching.
ReplyDeletePoor lil dragonfly. He probably got too chilled. The youngest grandkids have been finding butterflies and dragonflies in the yard after the chillier nights here. They're fascinated looking at them. Sun sure helps you feel better -- doctors always say sunshine fights depression and I completely agree! That's a nice John Deere collection! I showed Jerry and he was very impressed! Blessings to you guys!
