Welcome September

September 1 is the first day of Fall for me.  Already the mornings are cooler and we've had some cool days too. Unfortunately by the weekend the temperatures are forecast to be closer to 30C again. Too hot for me.

In the park someone had taken the trouble to gather pine cones and set them out on this memorial structure (erected to honour someone's mother). I wonder if it was a relative who did it.

The cool weather had me thinking about soup and I thought about French Onion soup which I really enjoy but rarely make.  Mine didn't look as nice as the picture off the internet. For convenience sake I used croutons ( home made) instead of a whole slice. It was delicious.

 Thanks for coming by,  G.M.

  1. Those pine cones reminded me that one autumn I collected cones from all kinds of trees and turned them into a sort of potpourri collection in a bowl on the table. I wonder if the lady whose memorial it was loved pine cones?
Your soup sounds delicious, perfect for cooler evenings.

  2. It looks delicious! French onion is one of our favorite soups here. Not chilly here yet at all. I'm so glad it's September, but we have to wait a good while for anything cool outside.

  4. I'm so happy it's September, even though it is still hot here. September means cooler weather will be here soon. Your soup looks delicious. I've never made French onion soup...don't think I have ever tasted it.

  6. Oh I love french onion soup. We just had some from a restaurant about a week ago. Yum! Yes the weather has all of a sudden turned cool here too.....but no warmups in sight for us....highs of around 60's and into the 40's at night. Yikes! I hate hot weather too....but don't like to see it cool off too quickly as our winters last forever. Enjoy your fall days.

  7. French Onion Soup is delicious and making it with croutons makes it easier to eat, too. Although the weather is supposed to be hot soon, the nights and mornings are certainly cool.

  8. Hi GM! Your soup looks yummy. I always think of Sept 1 as fall as well but here it isn’t even close. We are having lots of rain though which is cooling us down

  9. I do like September, but October is my favorite month. It would be fun to try putting the months in order from Favorite to Least Favorite. I will have to think about that least favorite one... I also love pinecones.

  10. We have lots of pine cones right outside the trailer! The artistry of the layout is beautiful. My least favourtie month is any that has snow in it.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  13. Oh, that is something with the pine cones...like you I wonder was it a relative and did she love pine cones.

September can still be a little bit on the hot side here...but I do welcome it. I lie October and sometimes November is still nice. Not very often, but when it is, it is wonderful.
