This and That

It's a dreary, rainy day. Nothing interesting is happening unless you count grocery shopping as interesting.

I'm almost done with the box of apples that we bought. We sliced and froze a number of bags for winter and we've had apple crisp several times.

I spotted this front window decorated for the season. Surprisingly, it's the home of an older couple, not a young family as you might think.  I suppose this year we need all the decorating and cheer we can get.

I had almost forgotten my children's shoe collection that I had tucked away. Not the ones on the floor....those belong to the grands and are their current footwear. I know, I collect strange things.

I also collect pretty pot holders. I took out all the Christmas ones and spread them on the table to admire.  Most are quilted or crocheted.

I've put a winter scene in the tall lantern. Nearer to Christmas I'll exchange for a manger scene.

That's a peek into what's happening here.  I hope you have a lovely weekend.

Thanks for coming by,  G.M.

  2. I've been sorting out my Christmas boxes, getting rid of one or two things and brushing up others. It's nice to see familiar things again. Houses here dont really decorate till December, but I know some people who already have tree and decorations up!

  5. These are nice impressions of early winter and beginning of the waiting for Christmas.

We als prepared a lot of fine apples to save them for wintertime. We had many apples on the trees this season.

    The pot holders are nice!

The window of the old couple is really inviting. I think they are fine people with a heart for children.

The decorated light-house is very sweet and tells about the forest-faitytales in winter.

Have a blessed time in expecting the Holy Child!

  6. I see you are having fun changing the seasonal look. We are still in the autumnal, Thanksgiving mode here.

  7. Oh my, you have some pretty nice collections there. I love the pretty little children's shoes. Love the Christmasy potholders....isn't that scene in your lantern pretty though! And how fun to see the windows decorated with Christmas scenes in that house you walked by. Yes, I think this year people need all the cheering up that they can get. We have Thanksgiving decor all over our house because our family is related to the pilgrims AND the indians! We will start to decorate big time for Christmas right after Thanksgiving weekend. Reading you talking about apple crisp makes me hungry for some....maybe I'll have to make some one of these days. I like apple cobbler too. My dear mom used to make both! Take care!

  9. I am trying hard to resist the temptation to put out a few Christmas decorations, but that window decoration has kind of stuck in my mind. You do such clever little things. There's a youtube video I saw that you might like. I'll see later if I can copy and paste it here.

  11. It seems a lot of people are putting out holiday/winter decorations. I think everyone needs cheering up this year. Your potholder collection is beautiful and I really like what you did with your lamp. What a great idea to change it for Christmas. You could always put the snowmen back for the rest of the winter!
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  12. I love the lamp and how you are able to change the interior. Your pot holder collection is a delight and the shoes a joy. There seems to be a lot of people putting up their Christmas decorations early this year, I suspect we all need some added cheer.

  14. Yes, I think we all need lots of Christmas cheer this year. We had hoped to visit my parents in Abbotsford this weekend, but with the new measures, we decided to stay on the Island. Your collections are lovely, those little shoes are so darling. Take care! Stay safe!

  15. Super-decorating for Christmas this year sounds like a great idea. Something to cheer up what has been a rather dreadful year for most people. I love your oven cloths - I would be hanging them up all over the wall LOL :)

  18. I love your Christmas potholders. I have a couple but they are rough shape and I need to make some new ones. I still have my fall decorations up and they will stay until after Thanksgiving. Then we will start our Christmas and winter decorating.
