November

We had very mild weather on the weekend and we took advantage of it to have youngest son cut down the very old, overgrown lilac which had begun to break apart. Better to cut it now and not wait for winter storms to do the job. The lilac hung over the playhouse and also the arbour that is covered with Boston Ivy.  Hopefully the stump left will let out and we'll have lilac blooms again in a year or two.

The fine weather continued today and I walked under blue blue skies. Unfortunately the forecast is for days of heavy rain beginning overnight.  Normal November weather for us.

Are you excited for this new month?  For you in the U.S. you have Thanksgiving to look forward to.

Our Thanksgiving is weeks gone and my thoughts are leaning toward Christmas.

Whatever your week holds I hope it's pleasant.

Thanks for coming by,

GRANNY MARIGOLD

  3. Well, in the US our week holds a presidential election! Praying that the right guy wins! We are also in for a week of beautiful weather ...in the 60s and sunny all week. That is melting all the snow we had! Hooray. Looking forward to our Thanksgiving at the end of the month....I'm sure it will be cold and snowy again by then. Love your pictures! Take care.

  4. We had those same blue skies here today. Our fall color is probably at peak right now, so it was a beautiful day. It is definitely time to get those outside jobs done for the days are growing short.

  5. We have had some gorgeous days with temperatures in the 60's this week. Tomorrow is still supposed to be warm but it will bring rain for most of the remainder of the weekdays before turning very cold next weekend.
How nice to have your children helping out with the bigger jobs like cutting down tree-like bushes.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  11. Our weather has been fluctuating from winter windchills and blowing snow to this week's highs of 16 degrees Celsius but with a chance of a dump of snow this coming weekend. Today's sunshine shows me that I didn't do such a great job of getting the streaks off one of the south facing windows so out I go again with ladder and Windex in hand. I'm glad you got your big lilac trimmed back now...hopefully it will rebound well in springtime.

  12. I liked the poem. Wind in the pines is one of my favorite sounds of nature! I'm having the same weather as "diane in northern wisconsin", so we'll enjoy it while we can. Hugs to you!

  13. First of all, yes, you got my birthday right...thank you!

I love your photo of the leaves.

Your lilac makes me think of my wisteria...it is just not doing good, and I think I am going to take it down. I will miss it, but it was different to the one I grew up with.

We are having a week that is nice all week...I think it is next week before we have any more rain. I have raked leaves yesterday and today and still more to go.

  14. Beautiful photos of the golden light - before the rains arrived. It's dark and wet here, too, although it's just for a few days. I'm working on Christmas gifts these days, too, and doing some shopping. I'd like to get it mostly done by the end of the month.

  17. Lilac is such a pretty vine. There used to be one by my bedroom window when I was a teen. I would open the window and the fragrance from the lilac would fill my room. How pretty is that Boston Ivy! Yes, here we are looking forward to Thanksgiving. Our children are all scattered in different directions, but this Thanksgiving they might all be here with us together. So I am really looking forward to this. Stay warm and safe

  18. The color of those leave are just simply beautiful! Oh yes, Thanksgiving is coming. My husbands favorite holiday. He said that no one wants anything from you nor expects anything from you and just likes your company. He has always felt that way. I love Thanksgiving too as we always have a feast but no doubt that Christmas is my absolute favorite! Hope that you have a great week dear GM. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  19. Wow that must have been some lilac to be that big! I miss spring and summer already.... and am ready for them to return LOL! Winter is not my season at all. We had a few nice days, but now the cold front is coming back in and my bones are a-feelin' it. Hoping we get some rain, I love thunderstorms! Blessings to you all!
