I had a busy day. The weather this morning was chilly and damp so after we had done the grocery shopping and had our walk I decided to bake. I made scones and carrot cakes ( with the help of my DH who grated the carrots, a job I find hard to do). Next I baked bread (using the breadmaker to prepare the dough) and mixed up Oatmeal/raisin cookies which just happen to be DH's favourite cookies.
It's been such a long time since I've made baked beans so that's what we had for supper. I had soaked the beans overnight so it was mainly a matter of baking them for several hours. The fresh bread went wonderfully with the beans!
The sun came out later in the day. Even if I didn't get outside it was lovely to have the sunshine in the kitchen as I puttered away.
Thanks for coming by, GM
That all looks delicious! Have a lovely weekend too.
ReplyDeleteScones are my favorite especially cheese ones.
ReplyDeleteIt is nice to have fresh bakery for the weekend .
Have a good day.
Splendid Cooking in your Kitchen- everything looks delicious- just the thing for a Wintery day. Regards. KEV.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations for best kitchen!!
ReplyDeleteOh! I cook also beans today!! :)
All family-members like it, love it, also the vegetarians.
All looks so yummy
ReplyDeleteOatmeal raisin cookies are my hobbies favorite, too. I think you had quite a productive day!
ReplyDeleteYou are so productive! Your family is good to help you as you execute your goals of scones and other kitchen goodies. They must be so thankful for your willingness to cook for them. My father’s favorite cookies were oatmeal raisin so as children that’s all my sisters and I ever made!
ReplyDeleteYou are quite an artist in the kitchen! All you bake is beautiful and so delicious-looking. I love that your hubby jumps right in to help.
ReplyDeleteCarrot cake and scones, how perfect for teatime!
ReplyDeleteOh my gracious! I can only imagine the delicious smels wafting from your kitchen. That is one thing I'm excited for in moving into a house. I'll have a real oven again, and not only that, double ovens! Here in the RV I have a toaster oven that is very accurate in temp. but small pans only. The microwave is also a convections oven, but takes FOREVER to bake anything. The regular oven only goes up to 325 for some reason. I bought a thermometer because I thought I was crazy, but nope. It doesn't get very hot.
ReplyDeleteYour bread looks amazing, as does everything else. I can almost smell that bread baking! I'm going to make a homemade chicken pot pie for dinner tonight, (Using my toaster oven.)
Blessings,
Betsy
I'll bet your house smelled soooooo good with all that baking going on!
ReplyDeleteYou have certainly been very busy in the kitchen! It all sounds delicious and of course a lovely way of warming up the house! Here we are "enjoying" -41C windchills so I have been baking as well.

All your baking looks delicious as usual. I love baked beans but they don't love me, so I haven't had them in about 50 years. Sounds like you had a busy day all right. Thanks for your post.....always enjoyable to read!
ReplyDeleteNow I'm hungry!! :)
ReplyDeleteMmmmm, I can smell the aroma in your kitchen and it is making me hungry :))
ReplyDeleteI bet your house smelled good! I love beans! I use the crockpot for them.
ReplyDeleteWow you have been busy it all looks wonderful. I can imagine the smell of the baking wafting around the house, yummy!
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job with baking! It all looks so good! Homemeade baked beans are so much better than those to buy, maybe I will make some soon! I also had a baking day this week, I baked sweet buns for the Norwegian celebration of "Fastelaven" Sunday. We eat buns with whipped cream on the last Sunday before the Lent.
ReplyDeleteYour food always looks so delicious...like pictures in a magazine. Bet it tastes good too.
