The weather has been lovely; frosty nights followed by mostly sunny days. As of today that has changed to clouds but I got a lot done outside while the nice weather held.
In the kitchen I baked brown bread, something I hadn't done for a long time. I took a picture but can't find it now. Anyway, it looked like brown bread and tastes pretty good. I also made more marmalade. Can't have toast without marmalade. This batch is carrot/orange.
Miss C (youngest granddaughter) turned 18 yesterday, St. Patrick's Day. Of course Covid restrictions meant no party.
The only other thing that's new are M's Budgies. He's been saving his allowance for a cage and 2 birds which he got last week. This is Spring Break so the timing was perfect. He named them Glory and Valor. Nice unisex names ( because we have no idea what they are).
I hope your week is going well. Just 2 more days until official Spring. I hope you're enjoying lovely weather.
Granny M.
I like your jam carrot and orange. I love the smell of bread baking!
ReplyDeleteThe weather is cold, but nice. But tomorrow evening we are again locked down for one month!
The blue one is a male and the green one is most likely a male also, you can tell their gender by the upper part of their beak...blue is a male., I hope they sing and dance for your grand!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to Miss C. 🎈
ReplyDeleteSo nice to be outside on those sunny days!!
Brown bread - mmmmm.
Nice looking budgies.
ReplyDeleteI "inherited" a parakeet from a big sister. I called him "Tweety" (very unimaginative) and he lived for years and years until one unfortunate day when he flew away...I hope he made it against the odds. The marmalade looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteOh how fun those birds!!! Love your homemaking 🥰
ReplyDeleteYour homemade marmalade sounds wonderful. That and homemade brown bread yum!
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty little birds too, so sweet. Thank you for your prayers I truly appreciate them, more than you know.
Your brown bread sounds great and your marmalades do too! I love those two parakeets....so cute and colorful. Are they making alot of noise? Birds are fun....we used to have many different ones ......our first was a lovebird and our last, after quite a few years, was a huge peach-faced cockatoo named Peaches!
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely new pets for M! A couple of years ago in late fall we had a gorgeous white and blue parakeet in our garden that had obviously escaped its owner. It looked quite regal sitting there and watching us work! We were never able to get quite close enough to catch it and I do wonder how long it survived on its own, poor thing!

I forgot to send happy 18th birthday wishes to your granddaughter! I hope she wasn't too brokenhearted about not being able to have a party on her milestone birthday!

Beautiful marmalade...I can almost taste it. Happy Birthday to Miss C. 18 is a BIG birthday! I hope she had a happy day in spite of no party.
ReplyDeleteYour parakeets are so pretty/handsome. We had parakeets while I was growing up. I was a child of the 60's and they were named Love and Peace by the pet shop. :-). They lived a very long time and I enjoyed having them as company. I talked to them incessantly.
Blessings,
Betsy
What pretty names for these two sweet birds! They really look like understandig a lot, and they do, I'm shure!
ReplyDeleteBaking bread is marvellous, My sister did it in former times and also the guy, who has now this blck cat Bubi, you know.
In your kitchen always happen good things!!
They are beautiful! Happy Birthday to Miss C...I hope next year she can have a party.
ReplyDeleteI love the budgies. I used to have several in the aviary but sadly the remaining one died last year but they often lived to ten years old. Wonderful names! The marmalade looks delicious. It has made me want some. :)
ReplyDeleteHi G.M. - The Blue Budgie with the Blue Crea is the Male, and the Green Bugie with the Pink Crea is the Female.
ReplyDeleteThose budgies are so cute! We had parakeets when I was a child, and I loved them so. The one I remember best was named Sparkle. She would sit on our toast in the morning and nibble :)
ReplyDeleteOur weather has turned cold and nasty again! I'm ready for spring to stick around.
Don't you love those Dundee jars? They're nice.
Pretty birds.
ReplyDeleteToasted brown bread and marmalade sound so delicious and satisfying. The simplest foods are often the best, aren't they? What a pair of pretty birds! Have a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteYour marmalade sure does look good and the carrot orange combination sounds interesting.
ReplyDeleteBelated birthday greetings to Miss C.
The budgies are such pretty little birds.
Happy Spring!
