This and That

June is done and so is the awful heat wave that we experienced.  School is also done and M  is SO happy about that.

My new point and shoot camera arrived and I like it.  It's nothing special but it suits me fine.

A few years ago I made banners of little dresses and had them up for a while. Then I put them away and forgot all about them. Recently I found them and have put them up again.   To me they look summery.

Yesterday, in all the heat, M wanted to paint rocks so we found a shady spot and had an hour's fun. He intends to place them along the path in his favourite park.

Many of my perennials suffered from our heat wave but the lavender sure didn't. It's as lovely as usual.

Tomorrow is Canada Day and we always have a family BBQ to celebrate. Everyone pitches in but still, I have last minute things that need doing. So I better get busy.

Thanks for visiting,  GM

  1. I like your dresses.
I'm waiting to hear what my assignment is for cooking for the 4th of July on Sunday. It will be a small gathering, but I expect pie will be requested.
Happy Canada Day! Oh Canada !

  7. It's crazy how quickly this month flew by, but I seem to say that more and more the older I get. I love your little dress banners, reminds me of the paper dolls dresses I had as a kid. I love the painted rocks too and glad you and M had a fun time doing them. I've done them too and left them for others to find. Your lavender is beautiful, glad the heat didn't get to it. Happy Canada Day - enjoy! :)

I should paint some rocks and leave them along some of my walking routes. :)

  10. Your lavender looks wonderful. Mine died last year so I'm starting again with a new plant which is quite small at the moment. Your little dresses are so sweet!

  13. I'm so glad that your heat wave is over and done with for you. It's just warming up here again but not what you experienced. I adore those little dress garlands. How fun to have them "hanging around." I've been trying to figure out where I'm going to hang all of my little garlands that I crocheted for the island in the house and then in the RV. I have no island, no fireplace in this house. Still, I want to hang them up because they say "home" to me.
Your lavender is beautiful. I had to leave mine at our last house and I miss it a lot. M's painted rocks are great and I know will brighten someone's day as they're walking through the park.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  14. Almost half a year has gone already! Mercy! Love that cute dress banner! How crafty. The painted rocks are adorable. We have a group in our county that paints rocks and then hides them all over the county in different places. One of my grands found one recently at our local Duck Pond and City Park. They loved it. Happy 4th of July to you. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

Thanks goodness: the heat is over (here also). School here in Bavaria is over end of July.

The rocks are beautiful and the banners are very very nice! Good, that you found them again!

Greetings to your new friend, the camera, she makes good work!

    You are an artist!

I love those little dresses. I would love to make something like that with my little grand- and great-granddaughters when they get a little bigger.

  20. Your lavender is very pretty. I hope you had a fun family barbecue. We got together with friends last night, and family tonight. Fun times now that restrictions are eased. Sweet little banner with the dresses, and painted rocks are fun to make and hide.
