For the third Monday in a row we went blueberry picking this morning. Because of the extreme heat we've had the season is shorter than normal and the berries are less big but we filled three pails full. The grands helped although the little man spent most of his time searching out the biggest berries he could find and making us all stop and admire them.
I have enough berries now. I put 20 large Ziplock bags full in the freezer. That should do us.
Do you freeze much fruit for winter? Or can? I don't can any more but I sure used to when the children were all at home. Once they were grown and had left home I gave away almost all my jars and my canner too. For me it was the end of an era.
Thanks for popping by. Granny Marigold
The blueberries look great despite the unusual heat you've been having.
ReplyDeleteWhat delicious looking blueberries. I don't freeze or can much fruit. I really meant to pick strawberries and blackberries this year and freeze them...where do the days go! Glad the earthquake was not any worse. We had one like that a few years ago. I had never felt an earthquake before, but I immediately knew what it was. It is a strange feeling.
ReplyDeleteI used to can peaches and tomatoes, but since I make so much jam, canning just doesn't appeal to me any more. I wonder why...?:) I have loads of frozen fruit though, and I forgot to mention that we also have a freezer at Oliver that we use for fruit as well.
