On Mondays I get an e mail from the nursery letting me know what the specials are for the week. I've been wanting Pansies because not only are they bright and cheery they also can tolerate a touch of frost. The special this week was $1.49 for a pack of 6 Pansies. DH and I went to look and I came home with 4 packs ( X6 makes 24 delightful Pansies). Of course I had to look around and find more pretty plants at good prices. It was hard to choose from so many!!
This Spring arrangement of Primula, Pansies and mini Daffodils ( not yet open) now sits on the sunroom table.
What flowers are you apt to choose when you go plant shopping?
Thanks for visiting,
Please leave a comment however short just so I know you were here!!
Granny Marigold
That's what I need . . . A walk through a nursery :) These flowers all look so beautiful. Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteNot quite spring in Ontario yet, but we are getting there. Grren shoots are poking up out of the ground.
ReplyDeleteToo much snow here yet for me to think of going to the greenhouse (and they aren't open yet anyway). I tend to be drawn to the primulas too but they don't survive our winters. I so love snapdragons and Bells of Ireland but tell me why they don't bloom well for me!

I always have to buy pretty primroses in March. When I change out my porch planters for summer, I put each years primroses out in the ground in the yard somewhere. Most of them make a return appearance.
ReplyDeleteAll of the flowers are so pretty and I enjoyed your selection. I enjoy purchasing pansies, stock, Dusty Miller, and coleus. We had a couple inches of snow last night so guess it will be quite a while before I purchase any though. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI tend to go for the vegetables, and whatever plants are a great buy! ;-) Haven't been there yet, and I should sign up for that email. I used to get it years ago, and then they stopped for some reason.
ReplyDeleteOh how LOVELY! I want to go to check on pansies, too! My feet are cold right now so I am reminded that it is not spring yet.
ReplyDeleteI like Pansies and usually buy some, the blue ones are my husbands favorites. I am going to try some different plants in my small flower garden this year:)
ReplyDeleteOh.....I can't wait tell time for flowers here!! Nancy
ReplyDeleteI tend to look for hardy perennials like shrubs, that will come back and require little tending. I long for a real GARDEN -- one with paths and lots and lots of plantings, and hardly any grass or open space. Someday!
ReplyDeleteMaybe something like the garden at Beltaine Cottage??
DeleteWell G.M. these are just stunning! makes me look forward to spring even more :) ... maria
ReplyDeleteAn email from the nursery?!? You really ARE an insider! :) I'm very boring when it comes to flowers. I stick with a lot of petunias in various colors, with some marigolds thrown in for good measure. But I love learning new things from you! I look forward to having a permanent place where I can put in some perennials. Happy gardening!
ReplyDeleteHaha! Anyone can sign up for the e mails!!
DeleteNothing wrong with Petunias and Marigolds. Petunias don't stand up well to our rain so I don't get those but Marigolds I love.
The photos inspire me to get on with my garden planning here in Cornwall. Visiting from Mari's blog.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blossoms make me smile. I absolutely love pansies and plant them every year.
