Blueberries

My DH brought home a 20 lb box of Blueberries. They are so tasty!!

For supper I made a Dutch Baby, which is something like a giant popover.
I looked up different recipes but most were almost the same, so if you wanted to try making one it's very easy to do. One Dutch Baby makes enough for 2 people

I made a lovely Blueberry sauce to pour over. It is definitely something I will make again.

We also filled 8 large size Ziplock bags to freeze for winter enjoyment.

I hope you have a lovely weekend.

Thanks for popping by,

Granny Marigold

  3. The dutch baby looks very much like what we would call a Yorkshire Pudding that would be served with beef. The blueberry sauce looks delicious. So nice to have the taste of summer all ready in the freezer for those winter days.

  4. Yum!! Oh the possibilities with all of those beautiful berries.
I used to make Dutch babies often in our early marriage and somehow got away from it. I think I will surprise my husband with one in the very near future. Would you consider sharing the blueberry sauce recipe?

    1. As is usual with me I don't use a recipe. I decided how many berries to use and added a bit of water. Brought them to a boil, added some sugar, simmered them a few minutes then used a bit of cornstarch & water to thicken it. Sorry I'm so imprecise.

  5. I'll be trying my hand at a Dutch Baby! How do you freeze your blueberries so they don't stick together? Avoid rinsing them? :) That's what I did last time I tried and it seemed to work.

    1. I wash them and let them drain briefly in a colander then into bags they go. I find they don't freeze into a solid lump and I can quite easily break off as many as I want in winter. Not rinsing them would work as well but the water that I rinsed mine in was sort of grey so they must have been dusty.

    1. I looked up the recipe and followed the directions given. There were even little videos if one wanted to actually see how they're made. It's such an easy recipe though. Let me know how yours turns out if you do try it.

  9. The Dutch Baby is the same thing as that German pancake I posted about last week. Yummy. But of course I ate the whole thing!
