A Little Change

I thought it was time to change a few things in the dining room. I had arranged the pumpkins and such at the beginning of September and I was ready to move on to something else.

This is what my Mom's old Singer sewing machine looked like before.....

...and then after I got out my pear collection.

It was very frosty first thing when I got up and it's still far from pleasant out there. The bird feeder is full and the Hummingbird feeder as well but I can't help feeling sorry for the birds when it's so chilly.
This little poem seemed perfect for this day.

I hope you are having a very good day!!

  2. I do so love that poem, one that I remember from my childhood and then saying it to my three daughters. Beautiful memories.

  5. Such a refreshing change with the pears, very nice. Cute poem. I think the same thing when a little bird in winter, "poor thing".

  6. I love that verse! I feel like Poor Robin today, though no wind is blowing. Just can't get warm. Guess I should migrate away from this cold corner where my desktop sits...

  7. I remember that poem from grade school... and that was a loooooooooong time ago! I like your pear collection, very pretty. We've had to stop feeding the birds, temporarily, I hope, because we had a pesky squirrel who attempted to chew his way into our basement and almost made it! Once we plugged up his hole he was at our feeders all the time gathering seed. We haven't seen him around for a week or more so I'll put some seed out again in a few days and see what happens. I do miss watching the birds.

  8. Your pear collection is so pretty. I would never have thought to collect pears...but you have them dispalyed so nice.

I thought of you this evening when my husband and I was at the auction. They had a large tote STUFFED with bears...35 of them to be exact and the majority of them were Boyd Bears. They sold for $35 for the entire tote!

I hope you have a lovely weekend!

  9. I love the little robin poem in both versions! Where do you keep all of your collections when they aren't on display? Stay warm!

    1. I keep my boxes of "stuff" in the garage, in my garden shed, even stuck in the space beneath the stairs. Wherever I find room.

  10. That first illustration is Tasha Tudor's, right? I love her books. Your new pear display is very pretty. I like those subdued colors -- they are a contrast to all the brightness that we all tend to choose this time of year. You've made me want to look back in some of my T Tudor books today.
