Happy New Year
We ended the year with a mostly clear and sunny day. We took a long drive in the country. We hadn't exactly planned to do so but youngest son had locked his keys in his truck at work and we, who have the extra key, went to the rescue.
We also went for a lovely walk around the lake. The resident pair of Bald Eagles were sitting together in a tall tree. A Great Blue Heron was standing in the shallow water's edge very close to the path.

We don't go out on New Year's Eve, choosing to spend a quiet evening in the comfort of our home.
I'm leaving all the decorations up until Epiphany. It always looks so bare once everything is put away.
May 2019 be a wonderful year for you!

We don't go out for New Year's Eve either. We used to go out, then when we had our children we had a small family oriented party here but for the past ten or so years we have just stayed home by ourselves and watched movies. Sometimes we make it to the ball drop and sometimes we don't! Best wishes for a wonderful 2019!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to YOU, GM! I took everything down today. It was time and I'm happy that I just have two tree boxes and two tubs. YAY!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! We spent a very quiet new year's eve at home. It was so nice and peaceful, a wonderful way to bring in the new year.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Granny Marigold!
ReplyDeleteWe do not go out on New Year's eve either. We are content to stay home and enjoy the peacefulness. Your country drive sounds so serene and it is good that you could help your son! Wishing you a blessed and happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Dear Granny! I was thrilled to be able to stay home on NYEve and today -- I've been too busy to keep up with basic things, so it was very rejuvenative to be here accomplishing this and that, and resting my whole self by not hurrying.
ReplyDeleteSorry I am just seeing this and your Christmas Eve post. I love the pictures in your last post so just had to comment. Did you bake a fruit cake? I sure want to bake one next year. Hard to believe we are already into 2019! Look forward to all your posts this year.
ReplyDeleteYes, I did bake fruit cakes, a light one and a dark one. I prefer the light one and DH likes a dark one with dates and lots of spices.
DeleteHappy New Year to you too.
ReplyDeleteI thought about taking my decorations down but decided to go outside and plant pansies instead.
Happy New Year to you as well, dear one. I enjoyed the pictures you shared in this post and envy you the sightings of the Bald Eagles. They are such a majestic creature.
ReplyDeleteNice that you can enjoy your drive and walks. I saw a bald eagle once in Washington or Oregon. Don't remember which now. I was excited to see it. Nancy
ReplyDeleteWe stayed in for New Years Eve too this year. We have enjoyed some walks and yard work during our dry weather. Now the storms return.
ReplyDeleteI never did decorate much at all this year, and maybe that's why it already looks rather wintery and bare here, and we are well out of the "Christmas feeling." It was a strange Christmas for us, following a not-very-easy year.
ReplyDeleteWe don't go anywhere on New Year's Eve either. Too many crazies out there!! I keep thinking about your roof. I do hope you can find a solution soon, friend. I know that's a strain :(
Thanks, MK. It's raining hard today and besides a large Rubbermaid tub I have some pails under the worst leaks. I'm hoping for a solution in the not too distant future.
DeleteHappy New Year to you too.
ReplyDeleteIt sure is nice to have my computer up and running again.
Sounds like a good attitude toward a peaceful New Year's Eve. I'm glad you leave up the decorations until Epiphany. There is no rush. We all need to slow down and cool it, no matter what the holiday. Philip/MN
ReplyDeleteHappy New Years! Even in our frozen area I saw a small flock of ducks in a small river that runs under the road. It always seems to stay open, and I sometimes see swans there. God bless!
ReplyDeleteHappy new year!
