Flowers

I noticed that the plant shop had Echinaceas  on sale so off we went. I chose a yellow, an orange, and a white one. I already had some pink and yellow ones so these will make a nice addition to my Coneflower area.  I like Coneflowers. They come back year after year faithfully and if they have a fault it is that they can grow tall and need staking. I'm hoping the new ones will stay short.

It's hard to see what I'm planning but my aim is to have a number of them near the base of the birdbath.

While I was at the shop I saw that cut flowers were 50% off so I treated myself to a nice bouquet.

I think yellow is such a cheerful colour.

Our air quality is still bad but maybe a bit better than it has been lately.  Outside exercise has been discouraged, especially for seniors, so we haven't been going on our walks. A bit of gardening is about all I've done so far ( and it's just past lunch).

Thanks for coming by,  G.M.

  1. I like cone flowers but they do not persist here, sadly.
Our air has been slowly clearing, enough that we went out for a short walk this afternoon. It was good to get out, even if a short walk is about all I can do right now.

  2. Well done to buy some more Coneflowers! I like Coneflowers, too! Very much! The bouquet is nice! Really, I bought nearly the same bouquet last Wednesday :)

I hope, that the smog will go away soon.

  3. Coneflowers are one of my favorites too. Nice and hardy. I had a whole mess of them at the house in town. A shame that the new people got rid of them!!!

  4. Your yellow flowers are indeed very cheerful. I'm sorry that your air quality is so poor. Here in NY we can see the smoke but it's very high up and so far doesn't affect our breathing. I hope it stays that way... but it is scary that the smoke has traveled all the way to the east coast. Praying for rain to put an end to these horrible fires.

  6. Your flowers are all so pretty and I agree that yellow is very cheerful. It was Karen's favorite color so we got her yellow flowers for the memorial service on Saturday.
We still have hazardous air quality but it seemed a little bit better than yesterday. The weatherman says not to be fooled, it will be back as heavy as ever tomorrow. However, rain is forecast for Friday night and hopefully that will both clean the air some and help with the fires. We haven't had measurable rain since the first week of June!
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  9. I like coneflowers a lot, I need dedicated space just for them. They were taking over my flower bed and I pulled them up last year, knowing I would have some still...and I did have half a dozen plants. Next year will have a bunch again.

    I love the cut flowers.

  11. Your coneflowers are pretty in different colors. I have some in the traditional pinkish purple shade. I enjoy them all summer and then leave some seedheads for the goldfinches. Hope it won't be too much longer until your air clears and you can resume your walks.

  12. The butterflies loved my coneflowers earlier. Most of the coneflowers here do tend to get quite tall and have the tendency to fall over. I trimmed them back several weeks ago. Your garden always looks so nice and well cared for. I love the cheery bouquet!

  13. Sorry to hear about the air control, you are in my prayers and hoping that the fires will soon be under control. It is heartbreaking to see the devastation. Love the beautiful bouquet you treated yourself too and the stunning additions to the garden.
